Maybe it's a made for MP type game? But what I played was incredibly dull.

Then you realise that people stream these games and people watch these streams.
In many ways I don't get modern gaming.

I don't get watching others play video games via my games console anyways. Especially games I already own.

You guys play games? For the most part I just click the "add to library" button when epic or gog give something away.
Didn't realise they could actually be played.

Yeah, I don’t get the allure of all these “mundane task simulators” they keep making. I feel similarly, but then I remember again I've spent hundreds of hours collecting and recycling trash in the wastelands...

I was surprised to find out it was still going the other day Hats off to EG, they got a chuckle out of me with their Thor skin article.

Yeah it did. They had to, Sony has paid them money. I posted this in the MCU thread but it really was a wasted attempt at a game all for a fucking GaaS model that didn't fit it and Squash Enix and their continual chase of unrealistic outcomes.

They went and turned The Crew into Forza Horizon, and I'm not mad at it.

I mean to be fair, Forza Horizon is live service game too, with all the weekly and seasonal content.
I just want to race around O'ahu, to be honest.

The only Ubisoft game I've played in recent memory was Splinter Cell Blacklist and even that had a ticker on the main menu telling me I was only x number away from killing 100 terroists or y knockouts, etc (which serve no purpose beyond ticking off a thing you've done) as if to try and stop me quitting the game. Really rubbed me up the wrong way. Their entire game design philosophy seems to be preying on people's obsessive tendencies
Only publisher/developer I'd say I really don't like and have no interest in what they put out
Probably should have put that in the rants thread really

As someone who doesn’t care too much about min/maxing or 100%ing a game, I’m not too bothered by it. As long as the core game design and/or narrative is interesting enough, I’m in.
The first Raving Rabbids was a fun party game beside Wii Sports and Warioware, at the time. 👀

I'm not really into the games-as-a-service thing. It actively puts me off. Nothing like the feeling of "oh I'll just play x for a bit" then finding out there's been yet another FANCY UPDATE full of things I DON'T CARE ABOUT, and by the time it's downloaded I'm out of time to play it.
Even more annoying when the downloads effect a multiplayer mode I largely avoid, and I only want to play single player. Thanks GTA Online.
I uninstalled GTAV and AC Valhalla because there was a new fucking update seemingly every month. Then a series of smaller, but still large enough to be annoying patch-fixes to fix the things the update broke.
I've also basically stopped played Forza Horizon since 3.
Now excuse me whilst I harangue this passing cloud.

Maybe if I'm in the mood, redownload later, play for a week or two, then uninstall again. That goes for Forza Horizon, the latest AssCreeds, Halo, anything. But again, because I don't feel that I have to do absolutely everything, the model in itself doesn't bother me. It's only when an additional monetary investment is required that I'm bothered by it. Why I can't get with an MMO, or a f2p title. I feel like I'm wasting that $14.99/month if I'm in the mood to play or watch something else.

It does look ace. Some quite bioshocky looking gameplay, which I won't say no to!

Game pass day one right? Edit. Sweet yes it is. There are so so many day one game pass games I want in 2023. I mildly hopefully my number one game of the year will be on it as well (diablo 4).

Been looking forward to Atomic Heart for quite a while, do feel a little bit uneasy though as it's a Russian developer.
I'm sure they're nice boys and girls though, right?

Been looking forward to Atomic Heart for quite a while, do feel a little bit uneasy though as it's a Russian developer. I'm sure they're nice boys and girls though, right? Technically they are based in Cyprus. But yeah, they do have Russian roots. There is no telling what they think about the whole war thing, since they have never said anything about it themselves (unlike say, Ice-Pick Lodge, which publicly spoke against it). You could argue their silence is kind of telling, but then you could also argue it doesn't necessarily mean much.

Cyprus is just a giant washing machine fat, Russian gangsters put roubles in.
You can absolutely guarantee there will be no way to find out whether this made or lost money.

I really hope Atomic Heart is as good as it looks, I've been eyeing it since the first trailer broke!
As for politics, it is rather sketchy, I'll give you that, but the game being on GamePass means they already got MS money for it, so we aren't actually giving them the money, right? Sounds about right to me!

I dunno if it looks that good? I will definitely try it but it does look like roboshock and the environments look really big and empty. A lot of the IGN preview seemed kind of boring.

Seeing something like No Man's Sky redeem itself, Fallout 76 improve to where it's not the bastard of the series, The Division 2 adding more and more content, Warframe just existing, they're games you can always keep going back to if there's not anything good out, games you can sink hundreds of hours into. They create communities, and because they've grown and evolved with the fanbase there's a much greater chance they're delivering what people actually want - they do mess up and learn lessons from that experience.
