Atomic Heart looks alright. Depends on the amount of jank. Will wait and see what reviews say when it comes out. Couldn't make it all the way though the IGN trailer though. Hopefully the music in the game is a lot better than what's in the trailer. There are enemies called Sprouts, which I like
Also, only played Forza Horizon 5 offline and it's fine. Only thing that bugs me is the the lack of access to time trials, which doesn't make a lot of sense
And I like my games to be good from the start. I don't want to pay for them and then watch them redeem themselves

Yeah something about Atomic Heart seems off. I just don't believe that it will play as well as it appears to in the trailers. I know that's fairly standard in this day and age but a new IP from a new studio and I just don't see it being amazing.
I think we're going to be looking at a bit of "Dead Island by Techland" situation here.
That in itself doesn't put me off it (hell, I loved Dead Island), but it does temper my expectations. I think it will be ambitious, very pretty, but very janky.

I mean, it wouldn't be eurojank otherwise. Most of the eurojank actually comes from Eastern Europe anyway.
It does look interesting, but I can only get so excited about yet another open world game (that isn't Elder Scrolls).

I'm not really into the games-as-a-service thing. It actively puts me off. Nothing like the feeling of "oh I'll just play x for a bit" then finding out there's been yet another FANCY UPDATE full of things I DON'T CARE ABOUT, and by the time it's downloaded I'm out of time to play it. Even more annoying when the downloads effect a multiplayer mode I largely avoid, and I only want to play single player. Thanks GTA Online. I uninstalled GTAV and AC Valhalla because there was a new fucking update seemingly every month. Then a series of smaller, but still large enough to be annoying patch-fixes to fix the things the update broke. I've also basically stopped played Forza Horizon since 3. Now excuse me whilst I harangue this passing cloud. I'm the opposite, I love games-as-a-service. Seeing something like No Man's Sky redeem itself, Fallout 76 improve to where it's not the bastard of the series, The Division 2 adding more and more content, Warframe just existing, they're games you can always keep going back to if there's not anything good out, games you can sink hundreds of hours into. They create communities, and because they've grown and evolved with the fanbase there's a much greater chance they're delivering what people actually want - they do mess up and learn lessons from that experience. Those are good arguments. And I do get it, I've played, and play, a good number of MMOs which essentially are games as a service. But for me there's a distinction between games like that, that I post socially, and most of the games I play, where I very much enjoy my time by myself. I rarely engage with any particular games community and have no particular interest in doing so. Generally speaking, once I become aware of a meta - people saying what the best way to play is, check this build out etc - I actually get a bit disheartened as then I feel obliged to chase that.

Really, it’s just UK, Poland, and to a smaller extent Spain that make polished games these days.

You mean like CD Projekt Red?
Isn't this more just like AAA vs everything else?

To an extent yes, but there’s also midtier developers like People Can Fly and Flying Wild Hog (who I keep having to remind myself aren’t the same studio) that produce quality titles. Crytek, on the other hand, has all the money in the world and their games are janky as hell. Honestly, I think Germany produces the worst games in the world, and you’d expect better with how much that country invests in tech.

Germany is just used to producing games on a shoestring budget. The net result is that, if it weren't for them, point and click adventure games would have died long ago.
Also, they made my favorite Myst clone (that is Rhem 1), so I can't complain too much.

Isn't the concept similar to assasin creed multiplayer.
I only saw it as stream from totalbiscut who praised it and was really fun to watch.
Could be really tense game..

Does Thief (2014) have any redeeming factors whatsoever? I mean, I know it was regarded as a poor Thief game by fans of the originals, but is if a halfway-decent game in its own right?
I dunno - something about the gothic setting and the sneaky-sneaky gameplay kind of appeals to me.

I dunno - something about the gothic setting and the sneaky-sneaky gameplay kind of appeals to me. Play it on the hardest difficulty, turn all the assists and that stupid focus mode thing off, and it is fucking brilliant. No surprise at all (and I say this as an ardent fan of the first two games) that I REALLY liked it and it's on my list of "games that shouldn't be hated or ignored to the extent that they are". It's very good indeed and you do some proper thievery. Main gripes are the abundance of loading screens and the fact it chucks all the lore and world building from the earlier games out the fucking window, but as a sneaky pinch-a-thon with a superb atmosphere, some excellent sidequests and a damn spooky mission about a third in - it's fucking great.
The fact they give you the option to turn all the modern junk off is a testament to the fact that they really did want to give you the option to play it old school style.
it still makes me cry a little as to what could have been, but I'm still glad this weird hybrid exists at all. it's worth playing.

What do you mean, that it shouldn't be on there? The game is built around a mechanic that doesn't fucking work. It's a mess.
Stupid Cole and his stupid flat face.

In all seriousness, I see LA Noire as a flawed gem. I mean, sure the interrogation system doesn't work properly, and the open world elements are mainly superfluous and the characters all have a weird wooly head on the same plastic lego body feel to them. But man, the ambition on that thing. Also, I do really like Cole's story.
Edit: But sure, I get the hate. It just makes me a little sad.
