Yeah, awful name and bad release timing means it ended up on my "wait for it to drop to a tenner or turn up on GP" list.

It's a bit of a shame. Game didn't interest me much but it's a new studio giving a go of it and having a huge flop is probably a bad sign going forward for them.
Having your marketing be a streamer push on a single player game seems really misplaced though. Once people have seen a playthrough from their streamer, they'll be far less inclined to pick it up themselves.

SkillUp video review title on YT - 'I recommend Immortals of Aveum' Are attention spans so short now people can't even be arsed to watch a 5 minute video?
(It's 27 minutes- fucking hell, but still)

I don't get EA, the Originals line is what I think a lot of people want them to do, but they keep releasing them at bad times ( think Wild Beasts was soon after MHR hit Xbox, this during the BG3 launch window). And you know there will be a financial guy asking why they're bothering when EAFC and Madden make an insane amount of money.
In fairness, I think Wild Hearts had locked in its release date before Monster Hunter Rise was even announced for PlayStation and Xbox, so this was a case of Capcom beating EA to the punch more than anything else.
Otherwise, I agree - Originals seems to generate a fair bit of goodwill (and positive reviews) for EA, but the money men are never going to make it a priority while their sports games print money at will each year.

It honesty sounds and looks like uninspired corporate dross at first glance. It’s something you’d expect Geoff Keighley to promote on one of his shows, and it would get lost in a sea of similarly awful sounding and generic looking stuff. And you’re doubling down on that if you go for a big streamer push, given that if you follow particular streamers you can likely tell when they’re being sincere or being paid to promote something
If it’s a genuinely decent game from a passionate team, that is a massive shame, but first impressions can do a lot of damage and whilst I’m not saying my gaming tastes reflect the majority, I’m sure on this occasion many had the same feelings.

The three different colour magic types is trite and makes it look very generic

seen very little marketing for Immortals something something, EA does seem to send these orginials out to die. I watched skillup video of the game and it seemed a good £20 game but there is so much more coming out now to play

It’s the art design that killed it for me. Jamie Tart looking kid in some Netflix Originals fantasy outfit throwing first person magic balls.
It just looks like a pass for me, even on sale. Maybe give a go when it’s a free PS Plus title.

Sea of Stars comes out tomorrow, from the team behind The Messenger. A retro inspired turn based RPG. There's a demo out now for it if you're curious, I liked it a lot and seems like reviewers agree, it's the highest rated indie released this year so far:

I would say Immortals of Aveum biggest flaw after releasing in a period so close to much bigger, more anticipated games is its ridiculous requirements. Like a low spec of 720p requiring a 2080 Super is just killing your audience before it begins.

The Warframe studio is making a fantasy RPG. As is the absolute law for fantasy games, it has the world “Soul” in it, but gameplay looks more God of War-ish.
I like the art style.

I think they knew everyone was going to dub it Soulframe and just ran with it. I like the way there's weight to everything and it seems to already have fairly deep systems in place. The only thing that worries me is that combat will end up being very parry-based, didn't get on with that in Warframe in Duviri.

Played the demo of Sea of stars and its good. I just tried the new zealand location change and didn't work, either MS have quietly fixed the location change or someone at MS has not made it live

Sounds like it's releasing at midnight eastern, and whatever the equivalent of that is in your time zone. So no NZ shenanigans.

I'd forgotten I had it on my Steam wishlist, read the PC Gamer review today and went straight to the store page.
That fishing game in it occupied me for longer than it probably should have.

Just killed the 1st boss, some of the timing for defence and extra damage with attacks is a bit strict (don't remember being that tough in the demo)

Like a low spec of 720p requiring a 2080ti is just killing your audience before it begins. I can't say that I understand why so many developers keep doing this. All of this shiny graphics tech doesn't really make much of a difference most of the time. Not anymore.

Crazy thing is I don't even think the game looks that good. I feel like I'm missing something here.

Oh, good, as if the game hadn't already been long enough Still, nice indeed.
Generic artstyle to blame I suppose. Lichdom Battlemage was a similar type of game and it looked similarly generic most of the time.

I guess so, but from a technical point of view I can't see it visually if that makes any sense.

Yeah, I think I see what you mean. Not being able to see why all of this demanding hardware should be needed judging from what you see on screen.

A new trailer was shown for Holstin, a 3D pixel art survival horror game. Prob the biggest jaw drop from a trailer I've seen recently once they show the perspective shift when going into combat. A game that also, surprise, comes out in October.

What BS. www.eurogamer.net/little-nightmares-3-doesnt-have-couch-co-op-to-preserve-atmosphere-and-immersion"Co-op was the most requested feature from our fans, so it was really important for us to give them that," Bandai Namco producer Coralie Feniello told GamesRadar. "I do think that it will add a layer to the game as well, by letting you experience it with a friend. "But at the same time, we really want the player to experience it as they want. So that's why we kept single player, so if you don't play online co-op you would be able to play with AI with you." "We've been asked questions about online versus couch co-op," added game director Wayne Garland. "Couch is something that we considered, but again, when you come back to the atmosphere and the immersion that we're trying to elicit through Little Nightmares, I think it was important for us that we stuck to our online co-op only rather than traditional more party aspects."

That’s just poor judgement. The person who has made that decision probably doesn’t play couch multiplayer unless it’s super casual.

I can only guess they thought having the second player next to you would mitigate the scare factor but a) in my experience it's usually the opposite that happens and b) it's hardly that much different if it's online, it's just the physical presence that's missing...
