Pushed it forward and helped with control. Still should be 5 up so serves us right. That's horseshit though because it's really not a legitimate goal to anyone with eyes. It's incredible that that's been allowed. I still can't get over it. I was puzzled by them even bothering to celebrate at the point that they scored because it was so obviously a handball that it wasn't even a question in my mind it would not be disallowed. Honestly not even sure how Anthony Taylor hasn't just ruled it out it was so obvious

It's not horseshit, it's what happened and why it's not an accidental handball but actual handball. I agree with you 100% My condensed sentence could be misleading.

Yea but it's really not the players fault that the officiating is inexplicably bad. Yea they should have been way up.
On ITV now peddling pgmol's nonsense as to why that goal counted. Honestly that is misleading. That is given as a handball everywhere on the pitch. It's crazy.

I'm so angry right now. I know we should have scored 6 or 7 but in an era of var you really shouldn't have to also made to account for inexplicable decisions like that tonight.
I just can't believe this. The well dones being handed out to Boro are particularly annoying given they don't deserve them and generally played absolutely shite.

Yeah, I’d be pretty pissed off if I were a Utd fan.

Feel sorry for Elanga. Not his fault. Very unfair that that falls on him

Always up for cup exit lolz, but it's rough when it's such a young lad. Nice to see some of the other Utd players being around him.
Great shoot out, btw. Some really amazing (and surprisingly tekkerz heavy) penalties.

Not sure I've seen so many decent penalties for quite some time. Shit way to decide games though. Feel for the lad.

I love a shoot out but do feel for the lad having it all on him like that. Good to see Ronnie and the rest getting an arm around him.

Yeah, would've fancied a second leg in a half empty stadium with actual referees.

Our just get an obvious decision right the first time when you have fucking video replays to rely on as well!!

Lol and they're actually accepting the PGMOL attempts at justifying that on ITV. It's handball plain and simple. Yea we should have scored many more before and after that but that's absolute bullshit.
The rule was changed to stop the utter nonsense that was the Kane "handball" that lead to a goal last year which never should have been disallowed. It wasn't so that obvious handballs in the box leading directly to a goal could be allowed.
If a defender does that. It's a penalty. if a midfielder does that it's a free kick.

I’ll admit I only watched the shootout so seeing the replays as much as I have a soft spot for the Boro I can’t believe that wasn’t ruled out under the current offside law
I’m all for attackers advantage and letting the game flow but in so many other games these days unless your hands are in your pockets its given so I don’t get why they didn’t pull this back as well

Never handball that, it’s clearly hit him above the t-shirt sleeve line and his arm was right down by his side.

I didn't see the game, but from my understanding of the (much changed and ludicrous) handball rule, it wasn't handball. It's not about gaining advantage, it's whether he can do anything about it. It's probably one of those that had the ref blown,it wouldn't have been overturned.

It's probably one of those that had the ref blown,it wouldn't have been overturned. Doug's, watch a video of it. It's handball anywhere on the pitch (and is rightly called as such in nearly every game you'll ever see). The refs can hand wring over the writing of the rule but just look at the evidence of your eyes. It's a handball plain and simple. "Accidental" is a hilarious classification to fall back on to justify allowing that. 99% of all handballs are accidental. I genuinely can't believe they likes of Keane and Wright sort of went along with that justification last night. Utter bollocks.

As you can tell I'm still raging about it. It's cost us our place in a cup competition that we stood a decent chance of doing well in.

You're focussing on one incident. 71% possession and 30 shots tells a different story. A penalty in normal time and your show pony couldn't even hit the goal. Yes we got lucky but saying that one incident cost you is way off the mark.

I'm sorry were we not 1 nil up before that incident?
I accept we should have absolutely battered you and that you were really, really poor. Unfortunately our finishing was just as bad as your defending except for the instance where it wasn't which put us 1 up.
Then you got an equaliser that shouldn't have stood. If the goal was legitimate it would be easier to accept it was totally the players fault for not being able to finish but that's not the case.

" a cup competition that we stood a decent chance of doing well in" but couldn't beat a "really, really poor " Championship team at home. Ok.

I still think it's the law that's the problem, not the interpretation. Slow-mo looks bad but at full speed I can see how it was allowed based on the current law (or at least the screen grab that's doing the rounds)
