I know why circumstances have combined to mean that we have to pick Saka but it still seems insane. Do we really not have one more academy kid who can play? Doesn't even have to be good, just give the poor bloke a rest. It's absolutely mad and unless Arteta has cloned him I dont see how he isnt get injured pretty soon.

I think the Bolton defender who completely missed the ball is not going to want to see that goal replay.

Posted in the wrong thread earlier about spending the whole game hoping Saka doesn't get involved. Just shove Martinelli over there and see what he does. Could do with a boost and we can't lose Odegaard and Saka otherwise we really will be playing Mourinho ball for a while.

2-0 ahead should mean wholesale Arsenal substitutions at half-time I would hope.

Saka off and focus all second half efforts on getting Jesus a goal. He's so thirsty it's ridiculous, snatching at everything.
The child in goal got absolutely nowhere near that Bolton corner, no blame on him but it's the only real vulnerability. Gotta protect him, but we've done that well so far.

Nwaneri has the goals but but Lewis-Skelly has really impressed as well. Looks like he's got technique and intelligence.

Bringing Gabriel and Havertz on in a game like this is unsporting.
And someone tell Gabriel that's not Raya behind him.

Bringing on the man they quite accurately call "the Albanian Maldini".
Pure League Cup!

Jorginho to Sterling to Havertz. Still takes some getting used to.

Total mismatch as expected and League One players clearly can't contain World Class attackers, but we did still learn a few things: - Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly look ready to contribute in 'bigger' matches. - Sterling has regained his sharpness and I'd be tempted to start him at the weekend. - Jesus needs to fogging lace his boots up properly! - It is incredibly difficult to play first team football as a goalkeeper at 16. Well done Porter for giving it a go. - Arteta is a lunatic.

Given the conditions the fact there were no Arsenal injuries against Bolton of all teams is a nice result whatever the scoreline.
The subs just seemed very strange.

That was a lot of fun. The academy players all equipped themselves well, especially Lewis-Skelly. Agree he was technically excellent. Nwaneri really good too and props to Jack Porter. Poor kid must have been cacking it. Even with some wobbles though, he still did really well.
Wasn't fussed about Saka playing, he only did 45 at the weekend.
