It does look like it’s missing a little “something” doesn’t it?
Still, if this does actually materialise next year, I think it might be time to dip in for a PS5. Love those old GT tracks.

Seems pretty set in stone for March so I'd be surprised if it gets delayed again. Getting it to run at 60fps on PS4 no doubt held the graphics bit which is a bit annoying. Still looks good though, liking the engine sounds.

This doesn't look like much of a jump from GT Sport visually if I'm being honest.

Yeah, especially if you played the Pro version of Sport. I mean, to be fair, that game looked great, but I do wonder if it's being held back by the cross gen announcement, or whether it was just tough to like add in-game ray-tracing or 120fps or whatever next gen shit while keeping the framerate consistent. I'm day one either way. Also, I really want this, but eeesh, that price youtu.be/MA4_qbIMAeQ

It's a shame there's no in game ray tracing. But it is what it is

Related - Is GT sport worth picking up for Single Player? Think it’s 6.50 at the moment so probably can’t really go wrong.
Used to love GT back in the day but not played for years.

Definitely worth a go for that price. It’s nowhere near the scope of a full GT game, but there’s actually a decent amount of single player content in there now.

That footage is just a track mod for GT Sport right?
Jokes aside, the AI looks pretty competitive which makes a nice change from them following each other round in a conga line for the whole race.
I wonder if there'll be cross progression between PS4 and 5. If they have the online save feature like in Sport surely it should be possible for it to be easily transferred?
Any bets on how many versions of Mazda MX5 are in the game?

Wonder if there'll be a 120fps mode? I'm kind of converted after playing Tony Hawk's.

GT games always looked a bit clinical, a bit pro faced, but, yes, it looks merely “alright”.
I’ll be livid if they’ve ditched the thumping-a-plastic-barrel-with-a-2x4 collision sounds 🤨

I think it's partly because GT Sport looked so good that it's a bit underwhelming. I'm not sure how much you can do with these sim type games really, even the top end PC stuff doesn't look amazing. If you go overboard with the lighting and effects and stuff it just ends up looking arcadey.

Worth pointing out the race takes place in the middle of a clear day so we're not seeing any fancy atmospheric effects at all. I think it looks good. Classic Polyphony to show something off in its most dry form though.
What jumps out at me in this footage is the connection between loss of downforce and the revs and how it combines with the camera shake. You just know you'll be able to feel loss of grip via the controller somehow too
Good bit of AI driving at 1:22 (red Mazda)

Yeah I've watched it a few times now and if that is actually the AI he's racing against against it looks like a pretty big step up from what they usually do.

It's a bit of decent AI away from being pretty much my ideal game. So this is all very promising.

For me it would depend if the AI actually properly simulates human drivers. i.e. subject to the same physics and the same control inputs.
A lot of games cheap out on that because it's so computationally expensive. The drawback being that it often then feels like the racing is unfair because the AI can be inhumanely fast on some parts, slow on others and ride curbs like nothing.

Might get a PS5 for this. Haven't played since I played GT3 to death, and the itch is returning.

Please god let the AI be good to play against.

The lead dev has mentioned a few times that they've improved the AI a lot so fingers crossed. It certainly looks better, especially in the first video.

Yeah there's some definite movement I've never seen them do before in these videos. I'm just hoping there's some decent difficulty scaling too. Found in the mainline GT games you're either way too fast or way too slow in career mode depending on your car/upgrades.

I hope the upgrade system hasn't fucked with the wheel physics too much, they had it pretty much spot on with GT Sport. I might buy some racing overalls.

Been playing a bit of GT Sport over the last week in anticipation of this. As a pad pauper the lack of trigger feedback makes such a difference between it and F1 2021. I've no idea how racing games could ever be played on a pad without it.
Might just buy a wheel tbh. Been saying it for about 2 years now.

It's definitely my favourite gaming thing I've bought. I don't use it a huge amount but when something like this comes out or a new Dirt Rally it's amazing.

Recommendations for a wheel & pedals that work on both PS5/XSX?

I just know how much of a gateway purchase it will be. I'll be looking at decent stands for it by the end of the week and not long after that I'll have a full sim setup in the spare room I use once or twice a month.

I'll need something I can fold away. Budget up to and around £500 but could consider more.

Wheelstand pro is great if you want to fold it away. I have a T300 and it's fantastic, not sure about Xbox support though.
