It’s primary day for a bunch of places today and…the crazies aren’t doing so well. Trump’s endorsement isn’t the golden ticket a lot of the GQP thought it was going to be, and some early signs point to this leading to an entrenched civil war in the party as they decide to turn the big lie on the winners and cry fraud. What, like the GOP will say its own members winning is fraudulent because they weren't the ones endorsed by Trump or something? Or am I reading this wrong? Because that would be ridiculously self-destructive... I mean, bring it on if so, but still, it all feels a bit far-fetched

California law requiring women on company boards was struck down yesterday, on the grounds that it violates the equality rights of men.
American news gets closer to The Onion every day.

Dr. Oz, Trump’s pick, may lose because of an overnight surge due to mail in ballots being counted overnight that heavily favor his opponent. If that sounds familiar it’s because that’s exactly how Biden won Penn, and was a cornerstone of the “IT WAS RIGGED” cries targeted to morons who don’t understand how vote counting works.

To be fair, I think laws like that and (to a lesser extent) the Rooney rule are a bit shit and a simplistic solution to a very complex problem. I feel like it's the sort of thing that over here would produce an entire swathe of Dido Hardings.

Sure, quotas and the like are imperfect solutions. But you don't turn around generations of ingrained male dominance quickly. It takes time, and until the culture changes so that equality is truly and naturally a thing, I don't mind it being enforced.

Madison Cawthorne, the "Gen Z Trump pick" anti-woke campaigner and general MAGAt, has been deselected by his voters in a local primary. 😁

I liked his video where he punched a tree.
Wait what do you mean his job is more than just being an influencer.

So, assuming that it's not just another fucking joke, Elon is a Republican now. Apparently because Democrats are now the party of division and hatred... vote Republican!
It's like... just stop being a fucking coward and own your opinions. Nobody forced you into anything, just say that you're a rich man and want those juicy Republican tax cuts. Or, alternatively, accept being the world's wealthiest manchild, who cannot conceive of politics as anything more than choosing your sports teams.
It's just so fucking irritating. And I know that's the point. It wouldn't be so bad if he didn't have millions of sycophants parroting his every word.

I think we all know the game he's playing right on cue. I mean he's a cunt through and through who's forever been trying to paint himself as the cool billionaire, the billionaire that it's cool to like bro. The mask was barely there but this fuckery has seen it slip off completely so he's picking a side to garner support when it's clear that he's going to pull out of the purchase and see his share value slide, so he'll say it was the liberals wot done it. It's already worked as the usual suspects are jizzing themselves over his political choice.

I don't know that he thinks that far ahead. I mean, he bought Twitter ffs.
He's like a 50-year-old class clown, who can do whatever he likes, believes in nothing, projects a cynical "pox on both your houses" attitude because he thinks it makes him look smart (it doesn't), and gets protected from the usual social consequences of being a dick because his parents were rich, and so is he.

He tried. Now he’s trying to renegotiate or even back out, without having to pay the billion dollar cancel clause. Probably because his “asset wealth” has dipped substantially since he started down this road.
The man is, frankly, an arse and the modern day GOP is exactly the right place for him.
I look forward to their fake billionaire and their real one fighting each other in the verbal equivalent of the most pathetic weakling schoolyard slap fight ever.

Re elections and republicans eating their own by claiming the process was fraudulent
Local primary election for county mayor. Three republicans. One of the losers got the other loser to sign on to contesting the results based on ‘massive crossover voting by Democrats to elect Wamp’ (the winner)
Tennessee has open primaries. That why I voted on Republican ballot rather than Dem, so I could pick least worst options to go into the general
It’s how primaries have been run in this state for decades. The loser actively courted democrat voters earlier in the campaign
They’ve all gone completely mental

Republicans vote against a $28 million emergency funding bill to address the baby formula shortage plaguing the US atm. Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the fetus from conception to nine months. After that, they don't want to know about you. They don't want to hear from you. No nothing. No neonatal care, no day care, no head start, no school lunch, no food stamps, no welfare, no nothing. If you're preborn, you're fine; if you're preschooled, you're fucked. Comically evil at this point, but even comic book villians make more sense. www.vice.com/en/article/bvn9ba/house-republicans-baby-formula-shortage?utm_source=reddit.com

Some marginally better news out of the US than other we’ve seen of late… www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-61574576Trounced, you say? Continuing evidence (one hopes) that Trump’s grip on the GOP is less strong than feared and some hope that any bid for a 2024 run or even to be kingmaker might be vain. Plus, it’s great to watch him continue his failure after failure after failure.

Need to see similar in Pennsylvania. John Oliver did a segment on Trump's pick there, quite terrifying.

Jambowayoh no, me neither, not entirely. But it's still heartening to see his grip apparently loosening. Bad news for his glass of water, though.

Unarmed pregnant black woman shot five times by Kansas City police, after informing them that she is pregnant.
KCPD Chief in briefing to media afterward: "There’s no ongoing threat."

He is awful.

Thing is I could ignore Musk when he didn't day something stupid every 5 minutes.
Sure we had occasional outbursts calling cave rescuers pedos because they refused to use his magical sub. But the frequency of his daft shit has really ratched up.
That's without commenting on his usual anti-union, anti-worker policies in his companies.
He's just a smeggy knob.
