Things getting very spicy over at the January 6th committee hearing.
edit : fucking hell this is on Fox! Trump getting called out like that by one of their anchors is astonishing.

The pessimist in me says that's just Murdoch weaning the die-hards off Trump to prepare them for the next nutjob he's found for 2024... Notice how they're still calling him President, by the way. For Faux News time stopped on November 2nd 2020, apparently. (also fucking hell, Murdoch is 91? Creaking doors hang the longest indeed...)

The silence after he makes the point is pretty damning. JuniorFE The ultracunt has bred a dynasty of ultracunts to take the reins. Nothing will change when he goes Also, everyone that has ever been president is still referred to as such forever, but yeah, it's pretty unsettling when they're talking about the hamburglar, and his (and his Q army's) tendency to push the idea that he is still the actual man in power.

Yeah, President is a title you keep for life, even out of office. They would (probably) refer to Carter, Bush, etc. in the same way.

I'm not sure Trump's crotch-spawn has the pull (I shudder to call it charisma, there's nothing charismatic about him) to really get a cult going the way he did, though. Unless of course you were talking about Murdoch, but that might still apply... And it's a bit weird to me that you could refer to, say, Bush as President without an ex- or a former somewhere in there but yeah, it's extra weird here, because at least with others there's usually some context that makes it clear they're no longer in power, but they're going out of their way not to do that with Trump...

It's funny how they're loathe to call Obama the president. I can't qwhite imagine why...

Murdoch was the dynasty I was referring to. And "President" becomes a title once you've held the office. As Jambo says, there's exceptions for some really odd reasons, but being orange, senile, insane, seditious or treasonous are not among them.

Explicit racism isn't really an odd thing for America, you might say it's as American as apple pie and baseball.

I mean, it took how many centuries for the Capitol to be breached after the last time? And lookie here, it's Trump with the steel chair and 'Murican "patriots" doing it to themselves thanks to him...

Off the top of my head, I'd have to say there is probably no example of a country being partitioned that ever did either of the resulting countries any good, but holy fuck does the US need to be partitioned.
Dumber than shit god-botherers in the south, intelligent people in the north, and a tiny little third area somewhere just for Elon fucking Musk.

It's more East coast West coast as I understand it, and we just let the hicks in the middle and far south interbreed uncontrollably until the corcydeps outbreak occurs

As above - coastal areas seem to be much more educated and democratic. I'm not even using the word "liberal" as that implies a mindset. They're left leaning by American standards but not exactly die hard trade union marxists.
Generally, when you look at the election map - blue on the edges and red in the middle. The thing is, while the red takes up the bigger land mass, it accounts for less people in proportion.
Also sure I read something that Americans are much more likely to have left the country if they live closer to the coast.

May want to find another planet to live on as the Supreme Court in their infinite wisdom turned to the Bible and read that Jesus was clearly against regulations on carbon emissions

Is there anything the Republicans will actually put above their own interests?
Obviously black/LGBT/women's rights have to take a backseat to the Bible, the .44 Magnum, and the almighty dollar, as has been clear for decades, but I'm staring to wonder if they even have a rock bottom.
2.5 centuries' worth of American democracy? Pfft! Throw it to the winds in order to placate an orange-skinned, narcissistic crybaby. The future of the entire planet? Nah - Big Oil's inalienable right to make billions of buckaroos is much more important!
If they're so pro-life, why not start to care about the billions of ACTUAL human beings that already populate this pale blue dot, rather than focusing on the POTENTIAL lives of mindless embryos?
Oh, right - that'd entail too much goddamn effort. As you were!

It seems like it's time for some pretty strict sanctions against America.

That is a genuine point. Are they capable of long term thinking in any way?

The long term thinking is make money now fuck everyone else in the future but repeat the line that in the future the white race will be dead because of Socialists not because of climate change because it doesn't exist and if it does exist it's god's plan.

For a country that has a separation between church and state it's not working too well.

Not least because the GOP has been chipping away at that pesky separation line for decades, and now the Supreme Court is stacked with Catholics whose aims happen to coincide exactly with those of the Republican Party.

Yeah it's one of Clarence Thomas' beliefs. He asserts that black excellence can only be achieved through hardship and suffering. Grade A cunt.
