Ah. Based on Tonka’s post I’m going to assume it’s a rebranding of the idea of trickle down economics

Ah, no, seems like it’s people finally realizing what having a fiat currency permits.
On to the actual bill, hopefully they break it into smaller chunks and try to pass those. A massive omnibus bill was *never* going to pass. A fact so obvious it’s hard not to think of nefarious reasons why it was ‘attempted’
Break it into chunks. Going into midterms with Republicans on record opposing the individual aspects of BBB, most of which have overwhelming support from the public.
I mean, BBB had majority support in Manchurian’s home state of West Virginia from *Republicans*. But the big bill is too easy to fail if the other side only see a signature victory for the enemy team, which BBB would have been. Individual bills you can bring over Republican senators who can work in their own interest without seeking to give the enemy any succor

What is this Fiat currency you speak of? It means that it's issued by a government but not backed by a real commodity (eg, the pound was originally backed by Gold).

The problem with trying to pass BBB piecemeal is that - I believe - it stops being reconciliation and once again the filibuster gets in the way. And the GOP are only too happy to fuck over their own constituents if it means obstructing Biden's agenda, particularly with the Eye of Trump watching over their every move.

Democrats have a great talent for sabotaging themselves, Minchin is pretty much a moderate Republican. They might as well try to replace him given how much he goes against their agenda.

I believe (although I stand to be corrected) that they're worried that if they do, a Republican will get in. Minchin's popularity is all that holds that seat. Whether that be him standing as a Republican or another GOP nut, I don't know. It seems irrelevant given that he doesn't actually seem to be on the Dem's side anyway, tbh. Over here, he'd surely have had the party whip removed and possibly been booted out by now.

It really is all a moot point come 2024, unless next year the voting rights bill gets signed into law.
The GOP IS going to do away with democracy completely. The tone of the rhetoric has been teeing this up magnificently. Portraying the left as destroying America and the right as needing to take drastic measures is pretty much the accepted narrative.
When voting is suspended due to national emergency the very same people who have been stepping over the bodies of slain children to raise their rifles in defiance of a tyrannical government will clap and cheer as an actual tyrannical government takes power and abolishes the republic.
Revenge of the Sith will soon be banned material

There's some kind of message in that cartoon, but I can't tell what it is. Damned Americans and their subtlety!

If the point he was trying to make there was "I made the vaccine," he very well couldn't say that people who take it are dying, even if Biden is president. He still made the point to say it was everyone's choice to take it or not, while making sure he bigged himself up.

She retaliated and called Twitter “an enemy of America”
An enemy which you gage been cavorting with on a near daily basis for years, Marj. I think that makes you a collaborator, at best. I’m sure having your head shaved will be an improvement.
I live about a four minutes’ drive north of her district. As such, many of her voters have been reacting to the news of her silencing by Big Tech on the Facebook pages of local news stations, (the same folks who attack big pharma for stoping doctor’s from administering Merck’s product Ivermectin…)
It’s at least as bad as you can imagine. Saying that, an awful lot of people have her correctly pegged as a moronic agitator.

“Keaton Lloyd Tech companies like Twitter and Facebook should recognize that their users want free speech.“
..” Jameson Reid free speech doesn’t exist on private platforms silly 👴”
“ Keaton Lloyd The companies mentioned are not private companies.”

the same folks who attack big pharma for stoping doctor’s from administering Merck’s product Ivermectin… A few years ago, people physically attacking doctors for refusing to administer sheep wormer to their critically ill loved ones would have been a crude parody, now it's real life.

They’re also finally going to vote on changing the filibuster rules. Seems like they’re using the anniversary of Jan 6th to really hammer home some of this lingering stuff.

If they don’t get rid of the filibuster and pass the House’s voting rights bill then democracy is toast
