I’d like a new VC, but would settle for something new like San Francisco and Las Vegas

I can see GTA becoming more like a Destiny type game, with SP being integrated into a persistent online world.

It would allow them have several different locations as they grow the world over time, rather than just committing to one.

Maybe bringing GTA V across to new systems is them preparing to port the map across to a new game too for the MP side. It's far too much of an asset for them to bin entirely at this point you'd have thought.

Course it will. Presumably, the in game crypto market will eventually be worth more than the IRL one.

I guess we're getting NY, LA and Miami on a loop forever.

Not casting doubt over watcher.guru but GTA6 is now HL3 for Gen Z.

Really? I mean it's been announced which HL3 never was, and it WILL be released because Take 2/Rockstar really like money.

I wonder what tone this game will take - how can you use satire effectively when you've turned into everything you used to satirise?

Surely that's the nature of the internet/social media, where random accounts posting stuff (ideally first, but normally, just regurtitating others' info) for clicks is king, rather than anything on behalf of Rockstar?

Yeah pretty much, I mean Rockstar have only said they're working on the next game to keep people, but more importantly shareholders, happy. Everything else is just content creators needing content to justify their existence.

If that dubious click bait is right about the crypto stuff it'll make the game very easy to just ignore.

I'm going to take it with a massive dump truck full of salt but it almost feels TOO on point with their monetisation bullshit.

They've been working on 6 for a few years now.
The in-game crypto stuff doesn't surprise me (or bother me atm). Knowing the waves it's made over recent years it's pretty on-brand for them to do something with it. The important bit will be whether it's trying to do something that affects you in the real world, or if it's a system in the game that reflects the real world.

To be honest I didn't really read the article, so my bad for just making assumptions.
If the cryptocurrency is just a pretend thing that can't be used or traded outside of the game, I'm okay with that.
If it is some kind of actual cryptocurrency that can be used and traded outside of the game, I'm definitely out.

Considering how serious Rockstar takes their secrecy and NDAs I'd take any rumoured leaks with a pinch of salt. We know that GTA VI is in development and that's it.

It’s pretty smart. They’ll have a virtual currency they can control the value of retrospectively. If they have a bad quarter, what do you know, gtacoin just crashed, you’ll have to buy some more.

As if they'll have a bad quarter. GTA Online has been Licence to Print Money: The Game.

Ugh, I want at least a little bit of escapism and not a constant reminder of how garbage the real world is.

To be fair, as already mentioned by others though, given how big bitcoin etc is, it would be very much in the satirical target of GTA.
Best case scenario it rips the piss out of it, like how they satirised social media in 5.
Worst case, they take the piss out of it, whilst making cryptocurrency and NFTs part of the actual game and meta.

Am I wrong? Yeah true. I think the crypto thing tips it over the edge for me. Maybe by the time this is out that'll all be a thing of the past anyway.

If this is a primarily single-player experience, even if there’s some multiplayer involvement in the over world, I’m all in. But if they prioritise the online multiplayer again at the expense of the SP, forget it. Where is the SP DLC you promised for GTA V, Rockstar?

I still think this game is going to have an always online aspect with no barrier between what is single player and mutliplayer rather than having to load between them you'll all play in the same instance. Essentially how Destiny is. There will still be a shit ton of SP content for the main game but I think the online expansions that typified GTA Online and Red Dead 2 are the template for GTA 6. They earn far more than ever now and they're not going back for people like us.
