The news today that the Starfield launch date has now been pushed back into 2023 honestly didn't come as much of a surprise. They've shown so little of it besides concept art at this point, it was starting to seem a bit odd that there'd been no gameplay footage yet.
Having said that, who knows what they might show off at that Xbox/Bethesda Showcase on June 12th.
In the meantime, let's enjoy the one proper trailer they've put out so far.

It looks really dry and generic in that trailer. Nothing about it sets it apart from any other sci fi thing. I haven't played Elder Scrolls but it's always looked like generic fantasy stuff and they bought the Fallout universe so who knows if this will actually be any good. Have they really added to/improved the Fallout universe or lore in any way since they started making the games?

I was looking forward to this being my game for the last half of the year. Actually pretty surprised it's been delayed since they dated it, and they've been putting out those featurettes on their youtube. Would rather it not be a disaster at launch though, so ehh.

Nothing in particular, but I like the Elder Scrolls' open world design more than most other open world RPGs, and I love space. So space exploration with Bethesda design sounds like a dream come true for me.

Honestly, what I'm looking forward to the most is finding out if it's got a settlement mode.

It will just be a reskinned Skyrim with flying houses. I hope we won't wake up on a wagon, though.

I hear they’re going to add two, maybe even three frames to their usual 22fps frame rate.

I look forward to a shopkeeper in space chasing after me halfway around the galaxy in his spaceship shouting "RARGH!!!" over his intercom because I stole some space biscuits or whatever shit they sell in this game.

Think my favourite thing in a Bethesda game was the little dude you encountered in the Tribunal expansion to Morrowind, who would get irate that you wouldn't keep giving him gold, disappear, and then return literally hours later in full armour with obscene health and attack you in the middle of the street lol

You don't need to put "Thread" in thread titles, we can see it's a thread

My favourite thing is talking to Moira in Megaton, then you travel half way across the wasteland and talk to someone and it's Moira again. Talk to someone for a quest and it's Moira. Walk past an NPC somewhere and it's Moira. They must only hire about 8 voice actors

The thread title seems naked now.

It's like they blow their VO budget getting a Hollywood star, like a Lynda Carter or Patrick Stewart. Then they only have enough for another 5 actors for the rest of the cast.

Yeah, "thread" has got a nice ring to it

I always enjoy the Bethesda open world games. They’re always interesting to explore.
Plus they made Morrowind, the greatest game ever, so they’re alright in my book.
No idea if this will be any good mind you, but space always makes things cooler.

I'm not the biggest lover of their games (although I mostly enjoyed Skyrim) as the combat is always janky. You can't deny they are important games in the industry though, they sell loads and for many years.

Skyrim was pretty good. The fact that they haven't made anything decent in the 10 years since then is worrying though. This is still probably the only game that would make me buy an Xbox any time soon though unless it turns into some kind of Fallout disaster.

Not sure the skyrim devs have put anything out since then have they? Fallout 76 was a different studio I think.

I forgot that came after Skyrim, that's another game I have really mixed feelings about.

I convinced myself I liked it the whole way through. Finished it and realised how much I hated it.

Fallout 4 was shit.
Maybe not shit, shit, but pretty fucking mediocre.
Base building can do one.

Base building is where it lost me. I can't do forced base building in games. I was with it until then. If there's a lot of that in Starfield I might drop it early on. 👀 Good thing it'll launch on GamePass, I suppose.

Wasn't the base building entirely optional? I never finished the game as there was something that was annoying me so I stopped but never needed to do the base.
