I'm the same. I have a sort of inner circle of games that regularly get played and the odd new one gets added now and again but in general not that much gets into that circle and a lot of the new games I tend to bounce off after a while

I think I just need to ban myself from buying RPGs and open world games.

I don't particularly try to replay games, or search out older games.
It's partly that my PC isn't strong enough to run a lot of the newest ones, so I'm always a few years behind the cutting edge anyway. And it's partly Steam sales selling older games dirt cheap. (Like, I recently grabbed Resident Evil 4 2014, which i haven't played before, but it's been on the wishlist for ages and it's dirt cheap now).
It's also just that a bunch of my favorite games have had remasters recently (Doom, Quake, Metroid, System Shock, Beyond Good and Evil, etc..), or I've been rebuying them on Switch (Doom, Quake, Portal), or I've been introducing my kids to them.
With all those, I just don't have time for new games!

Hard agree on doom and quake. I don't think I'll ever stop playing those. I've got them on console but when I really want to go for it, it has to be on pc. I still remember exactly when I first played doom and the same for quake, which led to literally about 5 years of playing them online. That's etched in my brain now. I can say the same for system shock and system shock 2 as well. And silent hill, resident evil 1. I'll stop, because this list won't end

And now you've said Doom.. here's me thinking I have a save for Doom 3 I never finished on Switch.

Funnily enough, I've just started spotting the differences in black mesa. Gah, I can't be arsed to do this and then do og hl again to check the original out. I'm moving on after this!

Does Black Mesa still have that Chuckle Brothers mug in the first security office you see after you step off the train, or did that get patched out?
EDIT:
Never mind, apparently it did get changed to a plain white mug, but you can change it back with a Steam Workshop mod.

Shame. It could have been start of the Chuckle Brothers multiverse.

Damn you all to hades. All this nostalgic game talk has got me looking at some of my really old games, and I've just come across Severance: Blade of Darkness.
It didn't use to work on my last pc, but this pc it works fine.
So I've just rolled a character for fucks sake!! haha. It is fun though and probably the most comedy gore fest going.
And I know how to cheat it to get a ton of health so I can just wander around decapitating everyone with wild abandon.

Haha definitely I've completed it before - it takes bloody ages and goes on and on. All I remember about the end boss was having to go down MILLIONS of steps on this massive spiral staircase going down. Can't even remember the final boss, just the approach to it!

If I'm being honest, I enjoy playing OG Dark Souls up to (and including of course) Anor Londo, as the second act has a some good and some not-so-good locations...

If I'm being honest, I enjoy playing OG Dark Souls up to (and including of course) Anor Londo, as the second act has a some good and some not-so-good locations... Same, guilty as charged. I only have to chat about the black Knight halberd for about 10 minutes and it'll make me want to roll another character. I don't often venture much past the 3/4 mark either unless I'm really having fun with it and go full on fashion souls as well. I have a photo somewhere of my favourite character. I know the build and the look, and it needs a certain head armour piece and a certain set of armour (old witch's I think, can only get it later on near the skeleton key door from the start in the valley of the drakes). But it looks *awesome* with the black Knight halberd. It's developed into my 'comfort souls game now. In fact I must dig that picture out. And obviously roll another character and see if that halberd drops...

I don't recall having that head piece, it sure looks great! It's a bit flamboyant but the witches set enables you to carry it off with the halberd I honestly can't remember what it's called or where you get it. It's not particularly special, but iirc it does have some hefty physical resistance. Fuck, I'll have to look it up now. Unless I decide against creating a new character tonight on a whim that is...

On the rail was very different i think. So was the office fight. It clearly has soul and looks of hl1. Just it stands on its own as seperate game. Edit So fallout tactics It's silly how many people and other enemies you kill in this game. So far my main character by mission 7 killed 140 enemies or so. And the team is not far behind with each over 90-120. Game counts So we slaughtered like 600 enemies so far including animals. But towns populations is around 40 people top based on signs in maps lparchive.org/Fallout-Tactics-Brotherhood-of-Steel/Update%2020/1-BOS_2014-11-19_18-11-37-976.jpgSo I am depopulating wastelands which fight really hard to survive. I think we are the bad guys. To be fair that's most games if you think too hard about them, and oh boy when you get into grand strategy. I'm sure we're all guilty of a megadeathcrime or ten.

Hah, touché but it's all about the black Knight halberd these days!
Not that it drops that often either. And you have to roll a new character each time you do a run so it's a bit of a pain

I'm going through Titan Quest yet again. Seemed like a good idea to get the Ragnarök and Atlantis DLCs out of the way. I did want to do it with a more advanced character I already had lying around, but that didn't work out so well. So I'm just going through everything again with a Ritualist (Wolves, Nymph, Nightmare and some support for them). I did play through Atlantis - which is more of a side-thing - and have finally arrived in Ragnarök (Act V) today. So far it's a bit dull, but Atlantis also had some its weaker areas up front, so we'll see.

After the tentacle-based horror lite of still wakes the deep, it's time for a change.
Little kitty, big city stylee. A gentle puzzle (ish) meander as a cat.
Fun, but not as good as Stray imo.
To paraphrase Roland rat 'yay cat faans'.

Yeah. It’s really just a cat-based collectathon. I nice unwind, really.
I do wanna play Stray at some point. Waiting for it to either hit Gamepass or hope it runs reasonably well on Switch when that version comes out.

DPA: House of Ashes
Just fancied it despite expecting it to be quite average. Determined to play through full anthology.

Still worth doing i think. It was well worth a go. Must be on sale soon if not surely i played it a while ago.

Stray is a great game. If you like cats, sci-if and the idea of a light on puzzling adventure action game do it!
