The Disney Avengers that was five white guys and a white lady who didn't even get her own action figure or movie?
[edit]
Just kidding.
Though I do find it a bit odd that people are surprised that an action adventure game about a party of heroes has decided to ape the biggest franchise about a party of action heroes. It seems an entirely reasonable decision, especially as half the bioware action-and-conversation games were most of the way there already.
Jade empire was decades ago, and it's already avengers-style action and banter.

I wish more RPGs would go this route to be honest. I loved how the Witcher 2 did it.

The bants are weak in this game. They should have just abandoned companions chatting amongst themselves or passing comment, they're just dull and repetitive now.

It’s definitely dragon age: Disney 12a edition but I’m really enjoying it. Think I’m 6-7 hours in now.
Getting to grips with switching between long range and melee moves as mage. Parry works a treat and feels good as well.

Well, I caved to temptation. I could use a romp in Fantasyland, even if it's not the perfect RPG.
Any advice on class choice? I'm thinking mage spellblade or rogue duelist. Want something reasonably fast paced and mobile, but I have no idea.
Mouse and keyboard or controller? I'd normally consider a controller heresy for an RPG (if it's not made by Fromsoft), but if this is more action-y it might be better for the combat?

If you want a quick combat syle, the Rogue moves around like prequel Yoda on nitrous.

Can you change class? I mean I can completely change everything else about myself at the mirror so I’m guessing class as well.

Which is a bit of a step back from Andromeda where you could, given enough levelling and New Game Plus plays, max out every skill and switch between combat profiles on the fly to create whatever combat loadout you wanted.

Worst helmets in a videogame winner?
I think the hair dev team sabotaged the work of the helmet dev team somehow.

How does mage play in comparison to inquisition? Can I still throw blasts as a default attack quickly? And most importantly, since the topic was brought up, can I put the usually god awful headgear as hidden?

My mage build is currently pretty badass.
My standard combo chucks out 3 electric bolts, then a double boomerang throw finisher that triggers an explosion each time, which then procs onto nearby enemies. Then, due to some aforementioned fancy headwear, each time an enemy dies it conjures an apparition that latches onto the nearest enemy and dishes out necro damage too. Couple that with a lightning storm aoe that I pop off at the start and I am a walking maelstrom of electro death.

Hah that's exactly why I want to hide it. Seen you can in options. So with that and mage not being awful I guess I'm buying it then.

I absolutely did not spend two hours in the character creator. Ended up going for spellblade as it seemed the most interesting and, while I don't know if it matters here, mages tended to have interesting stories and mechanics in the first three games.

For someone who usually goes all in on twin daggers, I seem to be putting a lot of points into ranged attack

Well that's the thing, as a Rogue in this, you're constantly equipped with two blades and a bow. On the controller, with default mapping, it's X and Y for hand to hand blows, and RT for the bow. What I find I'm doing a lot is sniping at enemy weak points as they approach, then going hand to hand when they get in close, using an ability to deal heavy damage, dodging back away from them and using the bow again, and repeat.
My build is pretty reliant on item bonuses at the moment as well as the skills. Every arrow that doesn't hit an enemy weak point currently generates extra momentum for using abilities, as does hitting anything from over 15 meters away.
---
I just had to make a decision and it resulted in one character's attitude shfting in such a way that part of their skill tree is now unusable.
EDIT:
Some stats at level 20:

I do like having the option to switch from melee to ranged and back again, sort of like how the original Dragon's Dogma played if you chose the Strider or Ranger classes.
Dragon's Dogma II was awesome, but I did kind of miss having a ranged attack in my arsenal.

I couldn't quite get the Inquisitor exactly as she appeared before. I didn't really get the tilt of the eyes correct, but I am pleased that her new form doesn't have such cavernous nostrils. Another bugbear with Veilguards' customisation was, if I'd given her the lighter grey eyebrows, it also changed the eyelash colour at the same time so I had to go darker with them.

Can you change the purple menus/background?
Hated it on Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and this looks even more garish.

Basically, yes - there isn't an equivalent of Inquisition's tactical mode, insofar as I'm aware, and all the combat plays out in real time.

Loving it more as I go on. Just finished the blood vault for those in the know. Such a great soundtrack I wonder if it’s the mass effect dude as it’s that good.
And yes to above. It’s basically an action adventure game with a side order of rpg. I pause it each time to allocate the abilities or to choose which target my team attack but mostly real time Action.

It's been 10 years, I don't remember anything about my inquisitor and the saves are lost to the ages.
I remember playing the game but as for the main character... nothing. A complete blank in my mind.

Urgh. I guess I'm going to have to buy this after having a quick read through.
Sounds decent, and I love a good rpg.
