I tried out the dual daggers approach, and enjoyed it much more than archery; I then respecced accordingly, putting points into daggers and subterfuge. I'm actually enjoying the war table stuff, although I was always a fan of the delegation/management missions in Metal Gear Solid V and Death Stranding, so it's not all that surprising. The crafting system probably had a lot to do with why I enjoyed the daggers so much, some of the models for them are really quite nice. I had a proper sense of "These are mine, no one else's" while using them.

I’ve now got both an Origins and Inquisition save on the go, but not touched either for months. I need to get back into them. I do love the world. I “completed” Origins back at its initial release, but it’s my first time with Inquisitions. Never played the other (second?) one. The second one has some really shonky cut corners in terms of production values (mainly one cave being recycled to be every cave) but I think it does the most interesting and unique thing with its narrative and structure of any of them. If I were ever going to go back and replay any that would be the one.

Yeah, the asset recycling is a bit crap, but the actual game and narrative in DA2 is great.

I third these comments. II is my favorite by far, but the way every quest outside the city walls took place in the samenfew locations, with only a wall here or there blocked each time felt unfortunately rushed and/or lazy. I think it’s common knowledge by now that EA pushed the game out the door. But don’t skip II.
Really wish we got a Legendary Edition of these for current gen.

I wasn't expecting to like DA2 as much as I did, but I'm glad I played it because I actually ended up preferring it over Origins. Much better cast of characters, decent story, and as with most Bioware games it can be improved a fair bit with mods.
Plus I would've been scratching my head a lot wondering what was going on in Inquisition if I'd not played 2. The world import utility is pretty good, but if I hadn't played 2 I would have only known Anders from the Origins DLC story he was in.

Seven hours in, and I'm enjoying it more each time I sit down to play.
Combat has improved dramatically, aided by a couple of key skills I unlocked (namely, the dodge roll and the parry).
I've added a few new party members into the mix, and it's nice to mix and match to see what works and what doesn't.
While I still don't like most of the characters as much as their Mass Effect counterparts, they're slowly growing on me.

I'm going to have to choose between the mages and the templars sometime soon - any thoughts, guys (and Bichii)?

Re Inquisition, how hard is the quest in which you close the Breach? The recommended level range is 8-11, and I'm only level 7 - is it worth my time to grind some side content, or should I be okay to crack on with it?

Thanks, Blue_Mike. Now THAT was a goddamn quest! I can't believe Solas knew about Skyhold all along, and he still had us slumming it in Haven like a bunch of peasants. Words will be had.

That mission is one of my favourites in the game, it feels properly apocalyptic.
Now that you mention Skyhold, I discovered something interesting while playing Inquisition last year. I get a bit of a vertigo/motion sickness thing when jumping from a certain height off one of the walls and into the main courtyard. Never used to happen on my previous PC or when I played the console version, it only started to affect me since I've been using a monitor with 165hz refresh rate. (DA:I will max out at 144 fps rather than 165, but still...)
Noticed it in a few other games since to a lesser extent, but for some reason that one fall in Skyhold makes my stomach lurch every time.

I can’t even be disappointed with Dragon Age or Mass Effect delays at this point. They’ve lost so many of their talent from their golden years that I’m going into them with trepidation regardless.
Uly, go watch the Netflix cartoon. It’s pretty good!

Some of the stuff I've read, there was a leak recently, and it doesn't sound good. The gist is that the multiplayer shell still exists to a degree after they pivoted away from multiplayer. I'll try and find the details again.

Don't really mind that as long as your character is fun to play. Hope the combat is considerably better than any of the FF games as I always found it a bit shit in FF.

Inquisition already played like FFXV. FFXV was Hold O to Combat, DAI was Hold R2 to Combat.
But yeah, taking away party control would suck.

Given that the biggest issues with KOTOR2, DA2, ME3, DAI and MEA are all allegedly the result of EA pushing them our the door early then I’m happy for Bioware to take time to actually finish the game

Hmmm, I think I'll wait till I see it running without such shitty compression until I pass judgement on an 8 second clip.

I've pretty much forgotten the entire plot now anyway. The delay doesn't matter. Just make it good.

Agreed.
BioWare really have to stick the landing on this one, so I hope they get whatever time they need to deliver.

Agreed. BioWare really have to stick the landing on this one, so I hope they get whatever time they need to deliver. I honestly think this and the new ME could be the final chances for Bioware before EA do an EA or sell them. But I'm pretty sure they would want to keep the IPs.
