This game definitely feels like BioWare had a meeting during early production and were like
Okay so anthem we tried something different, we wanted to be like destiny and unfortunately we fell short. We also tried a few things with andromeda and although some people liked it we did not deliver to our usual standards. So for this dragon age we need to play it safe and just create mass effect 2 in the dragon age universe.
I’m not complaining, I’m very much enjoying this but it definitely feels like BioWare felt they needed to play it very safe to secure their future and hopefully the next mass effect will be a bit braver.

That bugged Necropolis quest that was bothering me has either fixed itself, or the patch did it without actually mentioning it in the notes. Either way, I can actually finish the damn thing now.

Just got to a conversation with Bellara after checking a few artifacts and for a custom face I messed about with well beyond preset it still comes across as quite emotive and fitting for the scenes.

Yeah, I've noticed the way the face wrinkles around the eyes and nose is quite expressive on my Rook. My only criticism with the character creator is that beards tend to jut out diagonally from the chin rather than growing downward.

I like that almost everyone has gone for big hair.
This game does seem to have the worst fashion sense since Destiny though.

Made the mistake of going through that Three-Essence door in the Crossroads too early, got absolutely mulched by what was on the other side.
Did it, at level 41. Fucking hell, that was a good 'un.

Fuck, that is one hell of a Qunari:

I actually went for a shaved head with my Rook.
But I have to say, even the shaved head looks really good. Ok it may not have free flowing locks flailing about everywhere, but it is still very detailed. Also, my Rook is a bit of a chav so long hair didn't suit him.

The action really is a lot of fun in this. I’ve always liked it but now at lvl 22 and being used to all the combos and moves at my disposal it’s great to play.

Yeah, finding the combat surprisingly enjoyable. It's only in a few places where I ended up in fights in tight spaces it's turned into a bit of a mess, but that's only happened twice so far. In a perfect world I'd still prefer a more tactical nerd mode in line with DA:O, but that was never going to happen. Given how wonky it was in Inquisition it's probably for the best that they ditched it and went all in on action.
Not really a fan of the hyper-linear first quest that seems to happen in each new area, with everything off the beaten path blocked off. I understand they want to introduce you to the location, factions and new companion mechanics, but it feels like I'm being led around on a leash. Once it opens up for exploration it's more in line with earlier Bioware games - still corridor-y with combat arenas, but enough freedom to roam.

It took 22 hours but I’ve got my character/class/faction legendary armour from the start screen. Looking pimping now and I can’t imagine changing my cosmetics again.

I appreciate the mad, Legolas level moves the Rogue can pull off. Using the bow while dodging means you fire an arrow while in the middle of a backflip, and despite how stupid that is I will never not love the animation of it.

The armour in this is fairly hideous, thank god for the Mass Effect drop yesterday.

Yeah I immediately put the ME coat on one for default missions and coat off for home hub, a lot of this game is a mix of real pretty and real ugly.
Sounds like I'm just complaining but I am really enjoying it, but I've stopped thinking of it as a Dragon Age game which is probably why. It's a Kingdoms Of Amalur sequel to me made by the team that did The Outer Worlds.

With the change the appearance option I’ve never had an issue looking great.
Just had one hell of an epic battle with an optional giant boss in the necropolis. Was dark souls levels of epic and a lot of fun. Managed it on third or fourth attempt.

Trying hard not to Google incase I get hit with a spoiler, but I've hit a part where I've to make a decision about two places. I've made my decision (have saved and turned off now before completing). Done all available quests there until this point, I'm not interested in romancing the person.
I assume the place changes but does it mean I can no longer increase reputation with them?

The armour has looked crap in every Dragon Age game. It’s bizarre how they can’t get any of it right. I seem to recall my Hero of Ferelden just running around in a vest top and leather skirt for most of the game.

I didn't mind the Dragon Age 1 armour, it was fairly plain/realistic looking.
And I don't mind the armour in this to be honest but there are some weird choices.
Like the blood dragon outfits you get at the start. The rogue's one is a bulky plate mail contraption. Makes no sense

I think everyone is being harsh on the armour. There must be 100-150 sets and now I’ve found loads I’ve got at least half a dozen that look amazing and with the ability to also found cosmetic sets to also put over the actual armour there is so much variety.
I finally got the whole crew assembled today and we had a nice avengers team meeting with me being the kind supportive team leader.

I've pretty much stuck with the Contoured Skirmish Jacket for my Antivan Crow Rook from the moment I picked it up, both for the stats and the look.

It took me 3-4 days to catch up on this thread... And now I have and there's been nothing in here for TEN HOURS. How am I supposed to live vicariously through you all like this? You should be ashamed of yourselves.

I'm about level 17, a female Qunari warrior (why aye lass), role playing it nice/to the point in conversations.
I've stuck with a heavy armour set for a while as it seems to fit the class. Ive stuck with the first 3 abilities and generally put points into damage/rage enhancing passives, as I can't generally be arsed switching abilities. Got the drop kick, the AoE stomp and the necrotic damage shield (quen).
I favour the two handed weapon option for better damage and stagger, although the odd change to shield & sword is nice. The combat is fun, although I don't feel like I kill stuff particularly quickly. I haven't tried the other classes so can't compare. No idea what specialised class I'll pick.
It very much feels like Mass Effect 2 or Mars War Logs in terms of environment/exploration and I'm quite happy with the focused nature of it, I hate games with massive maps full of question marks. I'm also happy with the simplified equipment/inventory/upgrade & companion management compared with DA:O. The Lighthouse is basically the Normandy.
I was already thoroughly indoctrinated into going the opposite way from the objective marker in order to find loot and this game constantly rewards you for that, even if it is just for tiny amounts of crafting materials.
I've encountered the two demon bosses on Minrathous and the Crow city, but too low level at the moment for them. I don't want to play Dark Souls so I'll head back in a few levels.

Don't think I have used my heavy weapon option at all as a warrior
I'm Captain Americaning it through the game, chucking it at their noggins
The fact I am spending half the time cracking the puzzles only emphasizes that it is pretty far from a DA game.
Good God of War game though

dasbooter AFAIK it's only your base class that you can't change, anything that involves skill points (including specialization) can, and at no cost besides the time spent reallocating them

Good God of War game though The heavy weapon is really good. It's much more powerful, but you need to parry as you cannot block. A bit of risk and reward. It will never fully replace sword and shield though, but definitely try mixing it up some more is my advice. I probably use both equally.
