Same as dark souls though. It's not advisable to heal during encounters either

Well, say you're fighting flame lurker, and he's down to 1 hit left. And so are you. The most times I've survived encounters like that is by not healing and concentrating like fuck.
If I heal....blip....dog meat

Yeah but healing in Demon's Souls is dramatically quicker than the bullshit in Callisto.

Dunno, I don’t mind it. I prefer it to Dead Space which nullifies any possible tension by just allowing you to spam heal whilst getting your face gouged out.

Funny dark souls is brought up. Maybe I’m so forgiving because I’m used to being mauled to death 7 billion times across souls, bloodborne, sekiro, Elden ring, nioh, The surge, etc etc etc. maybe something just broke inside me ages ago and I don’t care now.

Have you got any recommendations for sci fi horror books, wunty? I remember a series that I read the first two books of ages ago but can't remember what it's called now. The author was quite obsessed with a poet (can't remember which) and there was a monster and a big spikey tower thing with people stuck on it. I didn't finish it so I suppose it might not have been that good

Hyperion. It ends a bit weirdly with Endymion because the main character comes across as a bit of a pedo

Sounds like Hyperion, which is probably my favourite book.

Er…apart from the pedo bit.
Don’t really remember much about the Endymion books, other than them being a bit like a sci-fi travelogue. The two Hyperion books are excellent though.

Well, Hyperion has survived all purges of the Sci-Fi- & Fantasy-list, so it better be "good". But I didn't really "get" Book of the New Sun and everbody was in agreement there as well.
By the way, very much worth watching. Most reviews don't really talk about all of those cool bells and whistles.

Yeah, it was Hyperion. Cheers. Think I will give it another read; the bits I remembered were pretty cool. I also remember the phrase 'her moist roughness' from it though

I bought it for my kindle ages ago and never got around to it. Think I’ll also give it a read!

Finished this earlier. Pretty one note and very linear. If you're gonna make it entirely all action and cut out the puzzle sequences, then I think it needs to be a bit more elaborate than hold left or right to dodge and counter for every single enemy in the game. Enjoyable enough overall til the final third of the game that just seemed to be all combat and the ending came about very quickly, even the last min scare seemed like it was rushed. Anyway, 7/10 prob.

wunty apparently the Callisto protocol helix station podcast is excellent. Its one Spotify and is voiced by the lady that plays Brienne and Michael Ironside. 6*25 minute episodes so far.

Honestly a bit surprised. I thought that there were a lot of Dead Space-fans that would just buy it on release no matter what...

I think the article is harsh on the game - even though as I've said elsewhere it is flawed and becomes deeply frustrating towards the end.
But the idea it would sell 5 million copies to recoup 160+ million dollars is a reminder that our executive overlords can be really bloody stupid.

I think most people would probably be quite surprised at the numbers Dead Space did (or didn't do as it were) back in the day, certainly not well enough to ensure a spiritual successor like this would sell like hotcakes. Add in the fact it's a new IP, lukewarm reviews and the bad press from the shit state it released in and 5 million copies is an absurdly optimistic expectation, especially during the silly season up against the likes of COD and so forth.
