I had, admittedly, forgotten that Raphael was cool but rude.

It's that good it's got me looking at the original figures on eBay that I didn't realise I need to sit on a shelf until 32 years later. It's ok to spend 70 quid on 4 Turtles figures, right? Edit- better than 120 quid just for the SNES cart, fucking hell! I bought this a while back

I'm not sure I'm enjoying this as much as others. It's fine but I dunno, it just hasn't really clicked for me yet. I'll pay a bit more but can't see me going back to it as much as I did with SOR4.

Now I'm 80 quid lighter 😂

Funnily enough I've come back from looking at figures myself! What it's really got me wanting is to watch the original cartoons though. Can't find them on the mainstream services I have. Don't really wanna trawl YouTube either. Looks like they were available on Prime but were removed.
When I was a nipper I used to get the comic from the local Post Office with a Caramac and a bag of Walkers crisps for my spends. Superb combo. I'd then obviously spend loads of time drawing my own comics of them, albeit shite. Weirdly the encounter with Wingnut really vividly brought that back, it triggered a memory of an issue with him in. One good thing about getting old is nostalgia for stuff like this I think. This game really brings the feels.
That secret lab episode with all the robots and swordsmen was hard though.

I think I've still got all my Turtles shit. All four, Shredder, a foot soldier, maybe Splinter. Also the Party Wagon and a garbage catapult thing.
Which one of you nerds wants them? I start the bidding at £100,000.

There's plenty at toy fairs. I can't remember the prices, but I saw someone selling a load. Also had Tracy Island for £10 which I should have bought for a laugh.

I got a NECA Raphael for my birthday a few months back. Glad to see I'm not the only sad bastard getting turtles figures.

I haven't turned my Xbox on in a while so was shocked to learn this is on Gamepass. Life is good.

Managed to get the 250-hit combo achievement on the 2nd level of the game. If you use the pizza power to juggle the hoard of enemies that appear near the beginning of the stage, your combo can be between 110 - 150 hits before you've even got properly going. I managed a 411 hit combo.
I hate achievements.

I played a bit of this at the weekend, and after struggling at first (after trying to commit the move list to memory, and play all tactical) I just thought "sod it" in the end and started hammering buttons, and ended up really enjoying it. That said, I feel like I cheated my way to the end with Michelangelo after I worked out that spamming 2 buttons takes out literally everything, even annoying flying enemies and bosses ... I just hammered A + X together (Xbox). This does a rising upward attack, then once in the air, it locks on to enemies below and does a downward attack (much like Sonic). Rinse and repeat.

I managed to play this this weekend too, with a buddy over Parsec. Thankfully it streamed pretty well and we got about half way and had a lot of fun.
I'm not too fussed about in depth mechanics but appreciate the dodge roll. Couldn't help but wonder how many 10p pieces we might have put in it if it was a cabinet down at the local video rental shop that we used to frequent as teens.

What ever happened to the Cowabunga Collection? Wasn't Konami meant to release a bundle of all the 16-bit Turtles games before or near the release of Shredder's Revenge? Was it cancelled?

I assumed it was still due this year. Steam says 2022 but nothing more specific. They're probably busy making the NES game even harder.

Not a very big game is it? Kids were done in 2 hours.

For the genre as a whole it's huge. The real value/appeal of the game comes from replaying the game at higher difficulties and having to really master the mechanics.

Yeah, these games were never massive. The replayibility is all in the fun combat.
You're a Turtle (or Rat or Newswoman or deranged hockey fan) who punches ninjas and pig boys in the face.
What more is needed?

My only complaint with this game is Splinter. And maybe Corey. They're not fun to play as. Splinter especially. He's so damn slow.
Donatello, April and Raphael are my faves! All different strengths, but just awesome move sets.

Yeah, I've been playing as April exclusively and I love her. I need to try out the other soon.
