Ok, I retract my statement about it looking dated - it looks really good for the most part (the UI is still pants). Been trying out a few characters and they've really done well differentiating the gameplay between different classes - the challenge of not dying in hardcore is pretty stiff. A dungeon you cleared as a sorc can be really challenging as a barb, for instance. The skill tree seem a bit underwhelming, but I haven't got far enough yet to really figure that out. Enjoying it a lot so far.

Yeah, I wouldn't play HC in D4. It's gambling, nothing else.

Yeah, I keep losing characters between L10 and L15. Traps, bosses, getting ganked....and haven't even met The Butcher yet.

I did HC rogue up to level 50 for an Xbox achievement close to launch and that was far too stressful, especially with rubber banding/disconnect risks back then. Never again!

The new season is excellent! The faff is massively reduced, the powers you can get are satisfying and immediate. Helped by the fact I rolled a Rogue and am therefore death incarnate, but I’m loving it!

Aye, hearing a lot of positivity about it on Reddit. Along with the usual complaints about finishing it already... Maybe don't play for 20 hours a day, fucknuts.
Think I'll dip back in after Spidey.

Yeah, hit 50 with barb after barely getting to 20 in season 1. At one point I did two of the 'big' summons in the seasonal event zone with about 5 other players and it was proper chaos. Ended up with about 20 legendaries out of it!

Now that I've played a bit, mad props for this! I got a bone necro as far as Vhenard but her last phase did me in. I should really play through softcore first.
The game is really stingy with drops at low levels! But that said, I've just got a few aspects to play around with - one of my big issues so far is (seemingly) a general lack of crowd control skills, but I now have that aspect on my rogue that makes Flurry go 360 degrees so that's the best I've seen so far for managing dogpiles.

If rogue hasn't been nerfed much since S1, you're going to have so much fun bouncing around melting everything in sight. It gets obscene.

I'm quite enjoying bashing things about as a bear in s2, it's not amazing but compared to the complete snoozefest of s1 it's a massive improvement.

Having fallen at Vhenard with my Bone Necro, I've now finished Act 1 with my Underboob Sorceror.
It has been fun, though with the Sorc, I've kind of settled into a routine of skill activations, which means I'm essentially locked in to pressing the same sequence of buttons all the time and then running around waiting for cooldowns. I'd prefer to play a bit more freeform if possible.
Also promising is a Lunge/Upheaval Barb - Lunge is a hoot - but I need to figure out their HC survivability.

I like my new necromancer. Fun to make things assplode which makes other things assplode and so forth.
And killing these vampire things is more fun than the cysts in the last season.

I had kind of forgotten that we had a Diablo thread, so I'm just going to talk about my recent D2R playthrough again.
I was a bit surprised that in terms of difficulty everything was still very much like I remember it from my many playthroughs of good old D2. If not slightly more difficult than most of them. I was playing a melee spear Amazon, so I was always in melee and with "Fend" as my main right click I did move into groups more often than was adviceable. That killed me a few times.
Overall Duriel was his usual self and while I remember Mephisto himself as being a push-over, I almost died a few times this time around. I think because I basically had no lightning resist. Diablo was dangerous, but as per usual the Chaos Sanctuary was moreso. Baal and his Minions just took a very long time to go down.
I think I had an easier time with some other characters/builds, but with this one it was difficult to actually properly avoid damage as opposed to having to tank a lot of it.

Is there any good hint on how to deal with Duriel? I gave up my (very first) game through Diablo 2 after having died several times at that point... on the easiest difficulty setting I might add. All my equipment is scattered in his cave now.
edit: Forget what I said. I beat Duriel, it's Mephisto at the end of Act 3 being a pain in the arse.

Killed him last night and he wasn't regenning.
Also guzzle about 15 thawing potions, they'll your cold resist to +50 and the duration stacks so you don't have to worry about the buff expiring mid fight

I found a cheese method for my necro, but that was a bit of a roadblock. Also had to cheese Diablo and slowly pick away at his health from the corridors  |

I always forget about thawing potions.

Fucking hell that's scummy behaviour even for them... I dipped back in a few weeks ago but it's just lost so much appeal, so probably won't bother again until the expansion (and even that's a big maybe)
It also sounds like you're capped at level 20 for the Steam trial, so why even limit it to the weekend?

Isn't the XP boost pretty counterproductive anyway? The game seems to be best below level 50, and afterwards it just seems to get pointless pretty fast.
