I prefer the combat in D3 but D2 had the best atmosphere.

I had forgotten about stamina in D2, wondered why I was so slow... then penny dropped. To be fair, it pretty much an non issue after a few levels with increased stats & stats on gear.

It’s a bit lonely, this open beta. Starting to get to grips with my barbarian, but a ranged companion would be welcome. I see I can hire the Amazon back at base camp?

It's a good remake but having tried the beta now I am not sure if I am going to spend money on it. Times have moved on and it just feels like a time sink now. Wish they had done more with it and not just a face lift.

22fps with everything maxed out. That seems… poorly optimised, even for a mobile 3080!

I loved Diablo 1 back in the day but for whatever reason skipped 2. I think I'll give this one a miss too as it didn't click when I tried the original a year or two ago, so I can't see this winning me over.
Also, fuck Blizzard.

Weird thing about D3 for me was how it was a sequel to 2 but seemed to recycle a lot of characters and bosses from 1, which I found really jarring. D3 Butcher had nothing on the original. Excuse me if I'm being dense, but do I have to link the beta on PS5 with my Battle Net account? I have one but it's long dormant.
Can't create a new Bnet account, couldn't be arsed creating a new email account.
Last night I went around in circles trying to get started, to reset the password I needed the authenticator, this needed my password. Ended up having to request a ticket from customer service like I was at a fucking cheese counter.
I don't care if Blizzard have got a Lambs Navy Rum calendar in the staff room but this could cost them a sale!

I don't think so. I mean, you can link your Live (or PSN) account with Battle.net later on. You're right that they do have that shit locked down though. Tried to recover a super-legacy (2005-2007) WoW account a while ago, which required creating a new account and needing to find all kinds of old details.

That threw me off too, I didn't expect to HAVE to login to my Battlenet account. Luckily I only use a few different passwords for most things but it's kind of offputing to be met with that.
Just wanted a quick half hour blast to see how D2 is on console and it seems really good. It was weird though going from the beta ( demo ) to D3, the difference is kind of astounding. Going from a level 4 or 5 duid to a supercharged wizard pelting through greater rifts. The tone shift is massive.

I'm on the beta, and it's rough as fuck. It doesn't run poorly at all, but it's... Diablo 2. With your tiny inventory, clunky hotkey system, and (as far as I can tell) no way to sort your inventory or stash. So you have to click and drag Every. Fucking. Thing. to organise yourself.
I love the game, and don't want them to change it too much. But damn, some quality of life improvements would be welcome. It's 2021.

I think part of the problem is they have the worst "fans" so they don't dare to change too much I guess, unless they awaken the basement dwellers.

Well…that’s an interesting experience on PS4. Controller is OK, using the inventory is a bit peculiar I must say. Sound sometimes disappears, but it’s nice to hear it all again once it decides to sort itself out.
The new intro is nicely done, but I do miss the pissy dwarf from the original intro. It’s expensive for what it is, I feel I’m fighting the interface and controls a bit, and I just want to be sat at a computer playing it.
The first Diablo set the right tone. The Skeleton King was excellent what the hell was that in Diablo 3? They turned him into some daft panto villain.

I tried the D2 beta for a couple of hours, decided it was ok but has been superceded by better games and ultimately not worth it for me. They have scrubbed it up rather nicely though.
