The team didn't change that much between 2 and 3, they just got a bit over-ambitious. It was definitely a sign when they got rid of the undulation system and made the evade a joystick movement for 4.
The VF.NET system in that game was the ambitious aspect and I think the fact that every single fighting game worth its salt ended up using it is simple proof that they got that incredibly right.

VF3 was a step down? Man that game has sloped stages - in a 3d fighter! And I remember it looking absolutely phenomenal.
But yeah it did feel slower than VF2.
Also after you all have given me hope, I’m coming round each of your houses this time next year for stern words if VF7 hasn’t been announced.
STERN WORDS.

Yeah I personally think it was a step down compared to 2. It also had some good awful costumes. I don't know what the hell Kage was wearing with that sexy S&M shit. Stupid sexy Kage.

I like the impact noises of his fists, but his face is terrible.
It's like they shaved Paul and then decided to make his face a bit blander

I think they saved some time and money by sampling some lines from a Guy Richie film for the voice

Single player demo is up on PS5. I think other formats are coming later for some reason.

I mean you can get quite far in most fighting games if you can nail a solid combo with good damage when you notice that your opponent makes a mistake. Also announcing that your using modern controls seems to enrage a fair amount of the FGC online so they're going to play cocky.

Same three moves/combos each time yes? Might be predictable? I think it varies depending on which direction you press in conjunction with the action button, so I think you should have enough to mix things up. I think, anyway. I had 40 minutes on the arcade mode, which seems really cool, and then farted about for five minutes Vs CPU. You can also toggle spanner mode on and off on the fly unlike SF6, so you can control normally and then turn it on if you want to go for the big bonk combo you keep missing. One thing that I dont think comes across well on youtube is how good it looks. Its very sexy. The music seems decent, too, although, again, Ive been playing a lot of SF6 and its soundtrack is woeful. The heat mode will take a bit of getting used to. You get an ultra instinct bar where you briefly power up once per round, do a lot of chip and get an enhanced special. You can combo into it and some moves activate it on hit so I kept going into it by accident. But, overall, I had less than an hour but its sold me on a day one purchase

It does look very sexy, this is true. I dunno how to feel about them going all in on the OTT anime direction for the story, but it has been that way for a while. Still, what's there is ridiculous and bombastic that makes for a decent opening. The Arcade Mode is something I've wanted from VF to have elaborated on, right down to the story being you looking to climb up the ranks as a pro player challening people at arcades and tournaments, earning fight money to customise characters. It's wild, the game mode helps teach some mechanics which is appreciated. I have this urge when I'm playing to just be able to pick up the moves quickly and pull off some wall carrying combos but I'm not at that level and have to remind myself it's gonna take a while to learn one character nevermind 32.
But yeah, it's gonna be a good game. If they do manage to get Tifa as a guest character, as heavily requested, I'll be loving it.

If you look at his CV, I think he has always been of the Michael Caine school of 'its a job and jobs pay money' school of acting.

I've no doubt following Succession he's being hit with quite a few roles of "Grumpy dad/grandad/old man that yells fuck off a lot", so I wouldn't be surprised if he's doing anything to show some range.
But the trailer is a slam dunk imo. His cadence and the way he's delivering the story, the editing, it's pretty funny. Was not expecting to hear Brian Cox ever talking about the devil gene or the king of iron fist tournament.

Keep coming back to the demo. Had a brutal work day, so ended up playing a few CPU matches to unwind ... 2 hours later xD
Runs fantastic, feels great. Really looking forward to launch now. The story looks like the sort of utter OTT nonsense I'll likely enjoy too.

Putting series regulars in as dlc is something that needs to die. Not just with Tekken just any fighting game.

Kind of figured this would be the case after playing the beta's, but it's getting univerally high praise
I was actually kind of hesitant about getting it, I have some weird hiccup about playing in Ranked matches where I think I should be playing better than I do and get frustrated over it. I dropped DNF Duel for the fact that I couldn't make it out of Silver rank online, I got relentliss killers that just needed one touch to combo 80% of my life away. But on reading the reviews I see there's quite a bit to the single player with Quest mode, which is the closest we'll get to a Virtua Fighter Quest mode right now. Plus the ghost battles against yourself or downloading others and the ability to take control of replays and practice sounds like the onboarding into the game towards a higher level is as generous as it can be. No doubt I'll play against killers online but if I can set aside time I'd like to give it a fair shake.
