I think horror permeates all of From's games. They all feature ancient gods, grotesque monsters and themes of madness and decay
Plus there's zombies

I didn't know that existed!
That said, I've barely touched the chalice dungeons. (I kind of have them earmarked for between Veilguard and Wilds, but I don't know whether my NG+2 save file is the best way to experience them.)

Yeah, Dark Souls may not have much obvious, in-your-face horror, but the backstories of places and beings are as unnerving as they are hidden away in item descriptions and obscure lore From 1, there's the whole mess with the Witch of Izalith and her daughters culminating in such wonderful beings as the Bed of Chaos, Quelaag and her sister and the Ceaseless Discharge, Pinwheel potentially being a family of three somehow fused together, everything to do with the Abyss and how it's apparently a representation of humans/humanity... In 2 there's the backstory of Brightstone Cove Tseldora, Aldia jumpscaring you in bonfires, the Lost Bastille, Nadalia... And then in 3 you've got High Lord Wolnir and the way he dies, absolutely everything to do with Irithyll of the Boreal Valley, Pontiff Sulyvahn and everything he influenced (from Aldrich being... Aldrich to the Dancer and Vordt of the Boreal Valley having been driven mad and fused to their armour because of rings he gave them), apparently in the original version of the Oceiros fight he would actually be cradling Ocelotte and he would accidentally kill him during the fight... Suffice to say, there's plenty of understated horror in Soulslikes if you look

I have been using this to get my latest character up to speed. It is extremely effective. I think I took on most bosses at least 20 levels above to make it easier. I've not had this character that long, maybe 2 weeks, with an hour here and there, and I'm about level 140 now! It's superb! Which reminds me, I just have nightmare frontier, upper cathedral ward and mensis to go. Stupid brain monsters in nightmare frontier can still immediately fuck you up with frenzy though, even at that level.

glad its good and not the medium or anything like that. Remakes are safe bet, so I can see remake of the 1st game. I don't think the devs could do a good new game from the ground up

Hmm, I'm hovering over nabbing the deluxe digital edition now -- because, of course, I'm an absolute fucking sucker and a fool easily parted with his money -- but it would be the PC version ...

There’s nothing there that particularly alarms me for the moment and yeah, I also expect a few patches to smooth that out. I remember really enjoying Dead Space from launch despite a few graphical issues that needed a couple of patches.

TBF With a necromorph you sometimes can't tell if it's a graphic issue or if it's supposed to be like that 😅

... yeah don't bother with the deluxe edition if you're only interested in the soundtrack, btw. It's a basic rip of just 10 tracks.

From what I remember the criticism was that Angela and Maria didn't look sexy enough. Apparently that's...woke. 🙄

Judging by that thumbnail, her head seems too big for her body in the remake (could be doctored for all I know), but I won't watch the video to give him (safe to assume he is a dude) a view...

'Games are an escape from reality' in a video about one of the most depressing games ever made
I just put it down to Blooper having poor dress sense. Her head does look kind of big in that picture though, ha

There's nothing more woke than de-sexyfying an ancillary character who is the victim of severe sexual abuse , smh. Proper turn off! I've also got it from a good source that Pyramid Head may actually be a wee bit ... ethnic-ky? This industry, man. tut tut.

On a serious note, it looks fucking gorgeous! And that music hits hard at the beginning Too much football today to really get into it, but looking forward to playing some more later.
