In fact the James you play as, is probably the only one who has made it to the "end" and confronted "Mary". All the others died beforehand. There's loads near where you fight Eddie and I wonder how many times that particular fight has taken place, with Eddie always winning until now. Is all this confirmed? I've only ever really got the main thing that happened, if you know what I mean

They’re not me. I read them. Makes sense. The only official thing I’ve posted is where I indicated it was verified.

I also like how Bloober's love of The Shining snuck in a couple of times.

It also reminds me a little bit of Soma

Soma is just fucking brilliant though. I keep meaning to replay it. That ending still fucking haunts me (but I still wish they had done it the other way around).

I reckon it's about time I went through soma again as well.
It would have been good the other way round, but I still think there's more horror in the way round it does it

I can't remember which way around it is but I like the way they did it. The ending just makes me feel sad though

It ends with you having the point of view of not being copied if that makes sense.
I like it, because it's even more horrifying being 'left behind' so to speak

It's an ancient game but I'm spoilering it in case anyone who is ready this wants to play it and hasn't. To that person. Stop whatever you're fucking playing right now and go and play Soma. I was convinced it was the other way around? I felt it should have been left with you screaming into the dark, but I remember that bit first, and then it switched to your copy living happily ever after.

Yeah see, from wiki:
"At the Phi site, Catherine copies their brain scans into the ARK at the last moment before it is launched into space, but Simon is confused as to why they are still outside the ARK despite their accomplishment. Catherine explains that it is their copies that are on the ARK; they argue about the nature of their mission until Catherine's cortex chip short-circuits from overexertion, effectively killing her. Simon is left helpless and alone in the darkness of the abyss.
In a post-credits scene, the copy of Simon stored on the ARK awakens and reunites with Catherine in an idyllic, simulated landscape. Meanwhile, the ARK drifts off into space and leaves the devastated Earth behind."
I think it should have been the Ark first. So you do the thing, then open your eyes on the Ark. Everything is awesome and then - BAM - it switches back to the other "you" who is left screaming alone in the dark.
It's only a minor quibble. Still fucking brilliant either way.

Yeah I see qhat you mean. That would be more horrible.
But it's still pretty horrible the way round it does it I reckon, because first, you get the shock of what's happened, and then it shows you the other one during the end.
But then you can't help thinking, "yeah, but hang on, what about the one left behind" and you start ruminating forever in some kind of horrible way.
I remember me and you having a lengthy debate about this on the old forum

In fact, as far as I'm concerned, I've always been the one left behind and as the other one is during the credits, I don't really class that as the game proper, if you know what I mean. As far as I'm concerned, I'm left behind, stuck screaming in the dark.

Yeah, I think it works better the way it is, especially as it's in keeping with the game's themes of continuity. We see the one left behind, then the new one

It's an ingenious bit of gaming design, using the perspective of self as a horror twist.
I need to finish this and then start soma again.
Anyway, back to thrashing legs.

Yeah man. That's effective horror right there. What makes you you. Where does it start, where does it end. If you copied you, which one is more you than the other? It fucking freaks me out. It's like that film Moon.

The real horror is the remake you don't like, especially when you don't play it as what's more scary than the unknown. Now I'm too scared to play it

New patch out, apparently. I'm not at home to check, but seeing posts elsewhere saying that it has successfully resolved the game-breaking bug in the Labyrinth, etc. Fingers crossed!
