Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2022

Finally got round to downloading WZ 2.0 after being away from my desktop for the last week or so. Just did one solo BR this morning and then a few drops into DMZ. Really quite enjoyed the latter, surprisingly. Performance on my mid-tier PC is a bit hit or miss, but playable enough.

Quick question: I hadn't bothered with MW2 yet. Is it worth getting in terms of the content/weapons/operators that feed into WZ/DMZ? I'm not averse to playing through the single player, and do enjoy the MP, but would probably hold off for now unless it accentuates the WZ/DMZ experience straight off the bat. Otherwise I might just get the battle pass for now and try levelling weapons through DMZ/Kill House thingy.

PS: can you not mod your loadout weapons in DMZ? Couldn't see any gunsmith option.

Yeah tweaked a few and seen quite a bit of improvement with little fidelity loss. See lots of people sacking of AA completely, though, which I honestly cant bring myself to do, as the game looks awful without it (at least to my eyes).

I suspect if I was more of a sweat I might feel differently, mind lol

This DMZ mode, man. Didn't even know I needed it, but absolutely loving it lol

gibroon what are you specs, mate? I'm still using an 8700k and a 1080ti, playing at 1440p: managed to get DMZ performance to a decent place, WZ was a bit ropey but not sure if that was actually down to me or the game itself.

Well the PS5 version with keyboard and mouse, 120hz mode on, is just incredible compared to what I was slogging along with on pc.

Just need to adjust my couch potato set up with k+m.

You have insured slots which you wont lose the item in. If it's not an insured item you will lose it but you can create another one and take it as an insured item.

No you don't it's yours permanently in those modes.

If you want the m13 I can give it to you, takes about 5-10 mins provided we dont die. I can drop mine and we can extract straight away meaning you will have it unlocked.

lol so I just manage to exfil from a nightmare DMZ, whilst being downed with no self-res and nary a second left on the bleed out. Didn't know it was possible, but sliding into the chopper felt equal parts epic and stupidly hilarious.

Yup, it’s soloable. Just toggle squad fill off. Some stuff is a bit tough solo, of course; and the AI can be brutal at times, but it’s great fun so far. Think the pace will suit a lot of folks, especially non-sweats like myself 🤣

DMZ really does go from the sublime to the ridiculous- last night I did get two extractions eventually and some nice loot/shit for missions, but the hour previous was just disastrous.

Mostly due to teammates continually rushing about engaging other operators thoughtlessly and getting us all killed.

I did have my hands on the M13 for 30 mins or so, having looted it from someone, but sadly died at extraction attempt as i think about two groups were camped out there waiting for someone to try to exfil. Bleh.

Oh man, this DMZ mode.

I’ve posted a few times here about my on and off love for Vigor, the smaller PvP loot and extraction game by the Day Z devs. This is like CoD did a Vigor mode. I’ve only played a few solo sessions and I’ve died and lost my loadout every time, but I’m already hooked. Something about the risk/reward of losing your loadout if you die really adds to it.

The AI enemies are tough, and I’m playing solo because I don’t want to hold back a team (I’m extremely inexperienced with Warzone and FPS generally). So it’s hard going, but I’m into it.

I caved and picked up the full price game. Oh boy it’s fast. I haven’t played COD proper in over a decade. I think my time with Titanfall 2 is the only thing stopping me getting completely rinsed at this point. Gunplay seems solid. I just need to learn a map or 3!

Don't get dragged into sprinting around everywhere. You will find a lot of your deaths come from not getting your gun up fast enough as you are caught running.

Get the expedite shotgun up to level 7 as fast as you can to unlock the blue dot sight for all your guns.

The pineapple foregrip is the best underbarrel attachment in the game as it's brilliant at taming the recoil.

Aim down sight is king for weapon mods as long as you can handle the recoil.

Use scorestreaks instead of killstreaks, they are better in every single mode and will get you your vtols and gunships easier.

Kill confirmed and hardpoint are probably the fastest ways to level guns without looking for glitches

Shoothouse is an excellent map to learn the game as it has constant fighting so you get up to speed faster.

Gutted I didn't get my first solo win last night. Had a good round with 10 kills but just an unfortunate timing of putting more armour plates in just as the last guy spotted me. At least I know it is doable, only my 5th game of solos.

Don't hang around too long in dmz if you're short of weapons. Folk camp the extraction points later to grief/steal your loot.

Try to go to one far out if possible well before the timer gets low.

Another option is to try a hostage rescue- these can be tough or ok,but if you get them out a new chopper will come to you nearby and not at an extraction point which can help with a smooth bail out.
