Cap is the best of the core Avengers in the MCU Correct. He's the only one who is a solidly decent (well, great, actually) human being absolutely 100% of the time, too. He's one of the few MCU characters I genuinely like (Kate Bishop joined that club with Hawkeye I admit). I do also mostly like Thor to be fair. Why there gotta be strife between these two brothers? |

Despite being one of the three with actual superpowers (not just money or training) I always found Cap the most relatably human of the phase 1 crew. I guess its the man out of time thing but he feels like he is more grounded and vulnerable than the rest.
He grows into the role rather than lording it up all entitled like Stark or Thor whose arcs are basically the opposite if his too

yeah, I'd never have though Cap would end up being such a fave character, at least for non-americans.
They did a pretty good job making him into the relatable one.

The only problem with having an MCU thread is that all the TV and films are talked about in the same place. So while I've come for opinions/chat about MCU in general and Hawkeye I'm wary of going back up the thread in case I see Spidey spoilers.

Avi Arad has a history of meddling and forcing his decisions into things, usually from a perspective of “what will sell the most merchandise?”
Any bad decision in any of the Spider-Man or X-Men films basically came directly from him. He nearly killed the MCU before it even started because he wanted them to launch straight into Avengers.
He also has a history of removing PoC from films, either in the editing room or blocking casting altogether. Not quite as bad as “we can replace Terrence Howard because all black people look the same” from Perlmutter, but still some dodgy stuff happening.

In fairness, Terrence Howard’s casting kind of sucked though. I found it quite unbelievable that he was mates with Downey Jr, whereas there’s good mates chemistry with Downey/Cheadle.

The finale already? Hawkeye has been weird. It’s been very enjoyable, there’s obviously been a few big moments and twists, but it also doesn’t feel like much has actually happened.

Saw Spidey last night. Managed to get a 9 o'clock screening that only had about dozen people in it and able to sit far away from people. Really, really good fun. I feel that the Spiderman films in the MCU have been consistently the most enjoyable set of films and this doesn't change that. Bit of shame that it has come out at this time though, as this is one you probably want to see in a packed cinema. It is just such crowd pleaser. Hands up, who wanted to let out a slight sound of disappointment when that Spiderman took off his mask and it wasn't Toby Maguire? |

I've managed to avoid spoilers, which is nice. But then I also don't really do forums or YouTube things.
Will go after Christmas. Self imposed lockdown this week until the big day. Hopefully should be quieter then if all the parents have taken their kids this week.

Fingers crossed that cinemas aren't shut by then, in whatever inevitable announcement we get on or just after Boxing Day. I was planning on the new Matrix film during Chrimbo Limbo, but fully expecting that the doors will be closed by then. |
