I played Metal Wolf Chaos after Dark Souls and got a stark awakening there. Granted I dont belive its as smooth or better to play than AC. Story and cutscenes more than made up for any gameplay frustrations around swapping weapon parts at least. RICHARRRRRRDDDDD |

Having never played an Armoured Core game before - what's the split between fucking up robots and faffing in the garage? If they keep the same game balance you'll be able to go in guns blazing for a few missions, then the difficulty will start ramping up.
At that point you can spend as little or as long as you want experimenting with your mech set-up if get into custom colouring and decals you might be able to spend longer in there than the mission, I'm sure there will be a 1001 best build guides within days of launch for the easily frustrated, for everybody else part of the fun is experimenting with various set-ups ranging from close range melee specialist to a stealth attacking ranged type.

It sounds as though Armored Core VI may do for Armored Core what Monster Hunter: World did for that franchise - streamline and modernise it enough to attract new players, while keeping existing fans happy because the series' core (no pun intended!) remains intact.
That's a tough needle to thread, but Capcom managed it with MH:W, and I think From may just have it in them to follow suit.

Preview by VaatiVidya - I'm neither a fan nor a hater, but there's definitely some pretty interesting analysis regarding the HUD (removed from the preview footage), lock on (soft and hard), the stagger mechanic, garage customisation etc.

But its From Software Same here, I don't remember enjoying a mech game, the whole messing (mech-ing?) around exchanging mechanical parts I don't understand (same with driving simulators) to slightly improve your build does nothing for me, but if it reviews well (I'm sure it will) I'll probably cave when on sale (around New Year or next summer)...
