Sure, but that’s £35 for 6 months. I’ll waste more than that on shit in the supermarket I shouldn’t eat in that time.
I figured it’s worth a punt, especially to get in while the hype is alive and I can play along with everyone going in fresh. I like trying different stuff, and I like that From have brought something back into relevance now that they’ve got a following, and it’s worth supporting. A couple of mates at work are getting it too, so we can chat strategy/builds.
Plus, it’s payday (I preordered BG3 too).

I meant it’s a £35 difference for waiting 6 months (I thought it was £55 atm).
Regardless, I bought it. I’ve done the first mission. I like it so far, but the starter AC is a clunky mofo. I want me some quick legs!

Not entirely sure I’m going to enjoy this, the combat just looks a bit mindless, but I’m an absolute sucker for mechs so may need to bite the bullet.

Ah well. I haven't actually played that much as I didn't have the heart to tell my son to get off and stop playing. He's utterly smitten by it, customisation and all, which I didn't really expect. |

Replaying the mission a few times and seem to get the hang of it now. Played a few more missions since, up to the Strider encounter they keep showing. And yeah, this rules. I can see how having different weapons will make certain missions easier or completed faster. Don't see the difference in different mech parts yet but still early enough. I want to try all the weapons now.

My copy arrived today, but I'm still planning to hold off playing it until I've finished Persona 5 Royal.
When it comes to From games, I tend to have all the self-control of an inebriated lemming, so we'll see how long said plan lasts.

Worth doing any Training missions as they pop up - completing them unlocks AC parts.

There's an option when you have an assembled ac to test it out too, R2 on PS5.
Got an S rank on the first mission, seemed like it wouldn't be possible last night so that feels good. Mind you, I'm sure there are greater skill checks later in the game.

Was planning on getting this digital as I tend to prefer digital games these days… but I have $50 in rewards credit at Target, so I may just go and pay the $15 difference and deal with inserting a disc into the PS5.
Will have to make room to install it though.

Anyone else battling the camera lock-on dropping? Maybe I'm just fat-fingered. I find it breaks really easily if you're manually moving the camera. Love the arena mode. Battling unique mechs with distinct looks and load outs that you can win and use yourself. It tickles some impulse in my brain to fight them knowing they have distinct names too like the Jaegers in Pacific Rim
Final mission in Chapter 1 and how the fuck can I beat Sulla? None of my weapons seem to hit, especially my missle launchers on the back. Most reliable seems to be to try and get close to hit him with the blade.

That's Balteus down. Didn't think it would be possible last night, but eventually found a set that works. Extremely tough, prob the first skill check of the game similar to Gascoigne in Bloodborne or Margit in Elden Ring. It's an insane difficulty spike because the missions before it were relatively ok, it's just this one which has a mid boss that pretty tough on it's own, nevermind the last one.

One thing I geniunely can't remember if they do mention about the assault boost is that shooting while using it will deal more direct damage on a target and also slightly reduces incoming damage to you. I couldn't tell you specifics but yeah.
This video from Vaati is pretty comprehensive for those starting out.
