Bookmarked. Can't read that now! Reading that, he sounds like he was a right arrogant prick!

His reply to criticisms with "I take this as a personal insult" confirmed his cunt status to me.

I think I said a while back that we’d probably never know what happened down there. I now think that was spectacularly wrong, I haven’t seen such a throughly documented map of the inevitable since January 6.

What a read that is,brilliant piece of writing and absolutly haunting in equal measures.
He was a narcissistic prick and sadly innocent lives lost.
The "mission specialist" roles as oppose to "passengers" and many other points just horrendous.

What a fucking prick. James Cameron's summary is absolutely correct, it's the exact same kind of hubris and arrogance that led to the Titanic disaster in the first place.
I said on a previous page that the game controller might not have put me off like it did everyone else. Now I can tell you that in combination with all the legalese and flagrant money laundering that was involved in getting a place on board, I would definitely have come to my senses. Like the time I nearly bought a Wii U from Brighthouse

Just to echo what others have said, really - that New Yorker piece was excellent, and paints a vivid picture of Rush's hubris that was only ever going to end one way. What a colossal asshole that guy was. Unrelated, but it reminded me of this Vanity Fair article regarding the sinking of the El Faro.

Very good read, seems a bit odd it never seemed to come to the attention of the wider press etc.

Glad or my research into submersibles has not gone to waste. Can't wait to offer my expert opinion on this one aswell.

I don’t understand the lure, but to be fair, he’s saying that there won’t be any deep voyage until the craft has met or exceeded the relevant safety standards
I’ll stick to snorkelling depth myself, but each to their own.

Well oceangate guy fucked it up for that small community that did follow the rules and certification process by breaking all the rules, and all investment dried up overnight. So now another wealthy guy is jumpstarting it by building a new one following established rules and regulations. I’ve seen at least 2 YouTube documentaries on this, pretty sure I’m right.

It is 2024 and I am very very tired of the vanity projects of billionaires. Spend it on something worthwhile, Jesus.
