It'd be interesting to see how it's ported to switch considering how difficult RDR is to emulate. It's got to be the 360 version right? Rockstar specifically used the word “conversion”, so it will be interesting to see what that definition translates into vs a port or emulation

I'm actually happy with a basic up-ressed, 60fps port of the original game. I much prefer that to a GTA Trilogy abomination. It goes without saying, but the problem is the price #hottake You know it's not 60fps right? Oh, ha.

I’ll take a basic 360 port over the dumb AI upscale shit they did to the PS2 trilogy.

Yeah definitely would like to play it again and in handheld format. Hope the performance isn't utter horse spunk.

Me and the boy are halfing in for it on PS. £40 credit on cdkeys for 35 with is 17.50 each, so that softens the blow. It’s a shit excuse and the price is far too high but as he loves rdr2 so much he’s really wanting to play it, so it’s this or nowt. Doubt I’ll ever bother to fire it up mind you.

Yeah it's as bare bones as expected, is it improved? A bit. Are the improvements worth it? If you've got money to burn. For Switch owners who've never played it it'll possibly be worth picking up for portable play and those who haven't played it on PlayStation wait until it's a hell of a lot cheaper.
I took time off work when RDR came out and had a load of fun playing it but that was 13 years ago and it had MP, which was a lot of fun too, it's 2023 and there's no MP and it's more expensive than I bought it on 360.

What's the average playtime for the first game?

It deserves better on PlayStation, but if it’s native resolution and runs as well as the 360 version did on Switch, I’m still sold on that. It was my favourite sandbox game until Breath of the Wild.

Speaking of 360 ports to Switch, where’s Far Cry 2? I’d pay 50 quid for a straight up port with no additional features. Would be better value for money than Far Cry 5 was on Gamepass.

It sounds like it's the best way to play it, via any official release.
The problem really stems around asking price - for £40, and the reputation of the game, it should have had a more complete effort. For what they've offered it should be sub £20.

20 quid and I probably wouldn't have resisted, even with no 60 FPS mode that it should have playing on PS5, 40 notes? Nope.

Agree. 20 quid and I don't think there would be many complaints. As it is we have a good idea that Take 2 don't tell Rockstar what to do so we know that decision for a barebones port is all from Rockstar management and as you say for the reputation of the game there should have been more effort, they can easily afford it and all it does is sully the Rockstar's already low reputation of late.

For all my negativity about this port, I can see myself picking it up once the retail version drops to £20.00 or so - I do love GTA V and RDR2, after all, and I'm sure I'd enjoy RDR as well.

The cold hard truth is that it's worth the money if you haven't already played it.

I was expecting bare bones but better anti-aliasing and slightly higher quality shadows over the X enhanced Xbox version still feels like a kick in the balls.
It's absolutely worth playing if you haven't already though. Genuinely one of my absolute favourite games.

I'd say a kick in the balls aptly describes Rockstar at this point. A lot of their decisions feel incredibly very half arsed, like I didn't know that they didn't even bring ray tracing to the pc version of GTA 5. At times it comes across that they hold their customer base in absolute contempt.

“You’re not wrong there!” “Absolutely” “Yeah, for sure” “Exactly right” Those four lines are guaranteed in any video they do together. Every single time and almost all of them.

Also, this wreaks of a Switch port in which they’ve decided at some point to do a PS4 port. It’s definitely an afterthought.
