I've been meaning to create this thread for a while. If that YouTube twat with the plane is worthy of a thread, then heritage destruction is, besides, The Crooked House lead us to discover that half of Gornal pays for this place, so we're owed a thread probably I'll re-edit this first post into a story so far later, but in the mean time, the latest news is... Two men have been arrested on suspicion of arson over a fire that tore through the Crooked House pub.

They should be made to rebuild the whole thing, exactly, brick by brick. Fuckers. Something similar happened in West London (I think) a couple of years back, council made them rebuild it. Quite right.

Yes, investigate it by all means, but the end result is the pub is rebuilt, brick by brick just like the Westminster case.

Quite right. North West, the Carlton Tavern in Maida Vale. Nice pub the new version is decorated with Jim'll Paint It pieces. Also yes. Never been but the Crooked House is near where I grew up, only knew it by reputation though, you need a car to get there.

Basically, if you know of a building that's derelict near you, set up a camera on it.

I used to work in heritage and this kind of stuff is rampant, although usually at a much lower level. Archaeology is damaged or destroyed by unscrupulous developers daily. The penalties aren't a strong enough deterrent in most cases and 'just do it and if anyone notices we'll pay the fine' is the prevailing attitude.

That cut isn't by a professional so it does sort of track that it's some absolutely fucking idiotic cunting teenager.

The nearest car park is a mile away apparently, which is doing my head in. Some little shitstain(s) carried a heavy chainsaw for at least a mile in the middle of the night in bad weather, and in all that time didn't think "hmmmm... maybe this is a bit of a cunty thing to be doing"
It's upsetting me far more than it probably should given all the other horrible shit that's going on these days, but it's just so bloody senseless. Even from just seeing a headline that mentioned a tree seen in Robin Hood this morning, I knew immediately what scene in Prince of Thieves it was going to be.

It's a bit suss. You'd need a big bar chainsaw to get through a tree like that.
He's used a wedge and it's a really clean cut. Pretty impressive to do that on your own in the dark.

Yeah, I can't see this being a 16 year old acting independently.

To get out there and do the work he has does seem highly implausible for a 16 year old.
Nevermind just doing the proper wedge cut to fell it some of the pictures look like the tree has been sprayed and marked with guidelines as to where to cut. Its obviously been done by someone who really knows what they’re doing. My dad works as a groundsman and this is exactly how he does trees after doing regular and advanced chainsaw proficiency courses.
It couldn’t possibly be a heat of the moment thing either. Too much planning and work involved.

Didn't it fall on the wall instead of away from it, though? Although I suppose if they have that level of disregard for the tree, they probably didn't give a shit about the wall either.
Definitely seems like more than just the work of a lone 16 year old regardless.

Definitely not him on his own, they are just offering him as a sacrificial lamb as he cannot be tried as an adult

I don't see how you're all struggling with the idea of this being a 16 yo on their own.
Almost certainly a 16 from a farming family, but can absolutely see it being a disgruntled 16 year old on his own but has access to (and experience of at least watching) someone from their family using a chainsaw.
Have any of you *met* farmers? 16 year olds are allowed to drive tractors. On their own. On public highways, hauling stuff.

No chopsen there is no 16 year old in the world who could carry a chainsaw for a couple of miles then use a chainsaw to cut down a tree. Never has been, never will be.

The method of the cut looks like you'd need to pull the tree, you'd also risk the chainsaw getting jammed by the weight if it wasn't being pulled at the same time.

Not that I'm an armchair chainsaw expert but gravity will pull the tree if you cut on the far side, away from whatever direction it's already leaning in.
