This forum has been remarkably hormonal of late. And obsessed with air fryers.

The plot twist that everyone has merely been pretending to be 40 all these years, and Junior is the forum’s senior member.

The period after Valentine's Day can be rough (that was meant in response to Jambo)

So, um... Rise of the Ronin, eh?
I wonder when the review embargo will lift.

I guess beauty truly *is* in the eye of the beholder...
... And on a related note, was it really too much to expect someone to say something nice about my ass? I figured I'd come back to at least a handful of compliments from my forum friends:
"Your ass is great, Uly."
"Don't worry about it, mate - there's no such thing as too hairy."
"I like a generously-proportioned derriere, myself."
See? Was that so hard?!
Pfft!
(I'm sorry, FlexibleFeline - you created a perfectly cromulent thread, and (as usual) I made it all about my hirsute buttocks. I really must stop doing that.) Oh please. A Uly buttock embiggens the smallest thread.

I wonder when the review embargo will lift.
According to Google, the review embargo for Rise of the Ronin is March 21, the day before release - 04:00 Pacific, 07:00 Eastern, 11:00 GMT, and (presumably) midday on the European mainland.

I didn't mind Avatar, which was basically Far Cry, up until I got exhausted, with doing the same fucking thing.. over and over.. if Rise of Ronin is like that, then that's a pass for me.

Avatar was fine until you got to the combat, which was shite

Yeah it was a bit unnecessary for it to be an FPS.

I dunno I'm quite enjoying it as an fps. Feels quite immersive when you're skulking through the forests.

Until you do the bigger camps and the second you get spotted every robot in a 10 mile radius comes flying at you. There is a particular point where the difficulty spikes massively and you either spend ages grinding side stuff or get instafucked.

I went ahead and preordered it, as expected.
I should watch Shogun in the mean time to get myself hyped.

It's a spin off. Ronin is short for Robot Ninja. So Rise of the RoNin

Read a good article that the game does a fair amount of quality of life to help reduce the time spent on little things that build up so it'll have auto loot pick up and trash if it's below a certain level, auto mounting the horse, horse can just go to a waypoint on the map automatically, never have to see same cutscene again if you failed a mission and had to retry

They should backport that automatic loot disposal feature to Nioh.

I like the look of it a lot but concerned that the combat will be too challenging...I am toss at most games, I like "story" modes. Re the game in a similar vain I completed Iki Island today, it was feckin epic just like GoT.

Duffman5 It's supposed to be more straightforward than Team Ninja's other games, if I'm interpreting the previews correctly; it'll also have adjustable difficulty settings, so you can put it on 'Easy' if you just want to enjoy the story/world.

I've decided I'm going to wait on this one. The combination of it being rated Z in Japan resulting in having to look into the UK version as well as the lukewarm previews, the late review embargo, the lack of a demo (unusually for Team Ninja) and the fact I've not seen it for less than 60 nicker has really knocked the wind out of my sails after being so excited at the announcement.
For content I'll roughly translate the comments from the blog that originally reported the Famitsu review because nobody else seems to have bothered. There's a bit of contradictory stuff in there so remember that these points are taken from four reviewers' perspectives.
- If you're into the Bakumatsu period it'll definitely get you going - The way that the story changes based on the faction you play with is extremely satisfying - Making your own choices and progressing in a Bakumatsu themed open world is an immersive experience - The impact of fighting alongside historic figures is very enjoyable - It's easy for many players to pick up because in spite of the battle system looking tough, it's easy to heal and there are difficulty levels you can choose - The areas have a beautiful woodblock print aesthetic in spite of the realistic visual style - It's got a lot of variety; systems and genres are included alongside one another - The combination of hack and slash and souls-like systems make for a deep game - It's a bit rough and hacked together in places - Visually they describe it as a bit subdued and somewhat of an acquired taste - It's fun to compare Yokohama with how it is now

That seems very at odds with itself. Everything I've read highlights this as perhaps Team Ninja's best output from a technical POV but it does run inconsistently especially in Perfomance mode while RT mode runs closer to 60 than Performance mode which is err odd all while looking like a PS4 game on the whole.
