I hate those so much. They're the worst thing in the game, maybe second to the brain suckers in Upper Cathedral. They made me angry

Brainsuckers are crazy weak to fire, I pack molotovs and a weapon with a reachy attack to help avoid that BULLSHIT grab hitbox and rarely have too much of a problem with them. Lanterns are way worse imo, frenzy build-up plus a grab that lets it continue to build is naaaaasty.

It's the stun attack that gets me and the ones in Upper Cathedral do nothing but spam it over and over

Brainsuckers always make me pause with dread before I engage them...other than the rare occasion that they turn up as a Chalice boss. They are completely robbed of their menace in that setting oddly enough. I guess it must be because you are expecting a tougher actual boss, and they aren't a nasty surprise round a blind corner to fuck you up. Quite why them and the Silverbeasts were chosen as bosses is beyond me. They could have gone with the giant spider in Mensis or ...err not sure I can think of another one actually.

It's the boss brainsuckers in the chalice dungeons I hate. Yes, they go down quick but really fuck up your insight if you're not careful. Last time I fought one he gobbled 10 insight from me. Little fucker. They just spam the freeze grab and gobble combo all the fucking time.

I've only done the chalice dungeons once and don't think I'd ever do them again but seeing the final dungeon boss was a proper wow moment. Wasn't expecting it at all but it made perfect sense

There's some glyphs online for some pretty good ones that have decent gems / blood rocks etc, so I would say even they are worth looking at if you ever do another playthough.

I got a bit drunk last night and ended up ordering one of those PS5 headsets because of this thread. So thanks, I think.

Never been a fan of the dungeons. Sure it's more Bloodborne but there isn't the same care to them of the main game. I always just look at them as why the hell would I spend time in the dungeons when I can just play the main game.

I don't know. My reaction to the dungeons at first was similar. I love them now to the extent where playing the main game feels a bit odd and unfamiliar. I find something very addictive about going down there.

Those were the main draw for me but I quite liked the dead silence and creepy atmosphere. There are some tricky enemy compositions as well. If you haven't already looked up the last boss, I think it's worth it. I'd just chip away at the dungeons now and then to stop it getting samey

I've pretty much beaten the dungeons years ago. (Can't remember which one I got to, I think a couple before the last one). Haven't been back as it was nothing on the main game. I only go back now to get things like the chikage early on new runs.
Who are you by the way? As in what was your EG name?

Amygdala down last night. Did it first go which was actually quite disappointing given that the area to get there was quite hard. Was really happy when I opened the short cut and saw how quick the run to reattempt was going to be. I'll never need it now.

She is so so annoying if you don't have the fire skull gloves or use a certain cheesy tactic around her feet.

Yeah I don't think I got Amy first go. In fact I know I didn't. So that's pretty good going.

Yep. Got a bit frantic towards the end but never felt like I was in danger. Maybe I'm over leveled (85)? Or just got really lucky. Stabbing it in its big head was very satisfying though.

Yeah no way I beat her with in five attempts first go. In fact she hits so hard she is probably one of the bosses I'm most likely to die to now if I do a 8th ish run.

85 is probably a bit overlevelled for Nightmare Frontier. Doesn't diminish you doing a good ruddy job though.

I've become incredibly shit at this after not playing it for 3 years. Level 24 and I'm on attempt 6 for each of BSB and Vicar Amelia (although I've always struggled with her a bit). Using a +3 rifle spear
....which I realised while typed I should NOT be using as I have a +3 saw spear, which would have had the extra damage to off both of them on at least one attempt

It also has thrust. Which makes it better than the cleaver.
Keep using the rifle spear though. It's a beast.

Love the intro cutscene, design, fight, everything. Wish Bloodborne had a boss rush mode
I've never cared about what weapons are 'best', especially in Bloodborne. Just go with your heart, I play better when I feel cool

I've become incredibly shit at this after not playing it for 3 years. Haha, you should see me playing Sekiro right about now danno. My last save before today was May 2019, and I'm playing like a chump. I honestly don't know how I completed it first time round, especially that final Isshin fight, plus the Demon of Hatred. I haven't played Bloodborne for an even longer time, so I don't want to think about how shit I'd likely be by now.
