I never did finish remake. Loaned my GameCube to my bro with a save where I was up to the tunnels and the fucker overwrote that with a new save. Never could bring myself to start it again.
Think I own the HD version on pretty much everything, so there's no excuse now really.

Whacked in a memory card containing F-Zero GX with EVERYTHING unlocked. Because it was a different region, fucking machine wrote straight over it with not so much as a warning, formatted the entire thing. I've never been able to bring myself to go back to GX since, I fear it would show me up as old and shit now.

I think NFS Heat will be added to the pile shortly. It's perfectly serviceable, but as I get older, I just sometimes get a feeling of 'why, exactly, am I spending my time doing this?', and this is one of those. Still, at three hours or so, with maybe another while I decide for definite, it lasted longer than: NFS 2016 - 2 hours NFS Payback - less than 1 hour Looking at the above, I could understand you thinking me a bit thick for buying another, but I really liked Rivals, enough to play it to the end on X360 then again on PS4.
Still, as I've mentioned before, it's got really pretty rain.

Grid (the recent one)
Its so fucking bland and soulless (no wonder why EA wanted the studio) the rain effect looks nice but can't think anything good about it. Best thing you can say about it, you can play some races to waste 10 or 15 minutes. Shame its not xcloud as it was 56 gig download

I've abandoned Saints Row 3 Remastered as well. Well you were right Robber about characters looking different. There is not enough re-mastering for me to warrant replaying this as I have spent insane amount of hours with the original. Still love the game, but this version is intended for the newcomers to the franchise imho. Also will probably abandon XCom 2. I love most things aboout it, but there is too much stuff to do, too much information gets thrown at me every step of the story. I'd appreciate a more streamlined approach, without the base management, research, bulding stuff and so on. Absolutely love the setting though. XCOM 2 is one of my all-time faves. It can get a bit busy, though, granted. The research arc is crucial to both games though - you start out weak and outgunned, but eventually you reach a tipping point where you become more powerful than your enemies. This is immensely satisfying, as you get to wipe the floor with the enemies that have given you so much grief! Have you tried Phoenix Point? I backed it on Kickstarter but I haven’t played that much of it. It doesn’t have as much of the base building though.

Just finished Phoenix Point - it's a good alternative to X-Com. Less emphasis on base building - base aquisition it's more about. Can get overwhelming at times with all the research and items on offer. The first person view when targetting is great and allows you to pinpoint certain body parts which effects the enemy in various ways. The story is interesting with various factions to work for and align with.

Thought dialogues and voice acting were cheesy and I hated how now aliens fight alongside me. Especially those snake-lizard things, they are disgusting. Also, having to start every mission with a breach - not my cup of tea. Might try to persevere with XCom2 but so far, I only get through a couple of mission before losing miserably and my best characters dying. Can't remember any other game I've reloaded my previous saves so many times. EDIT: I can't properly edit the quotes for shit.

I really enjoyed XCom 2. It took a few attempts before it clicked though and I eventually took a stance that I would reload a mission if one of my “first team”* soldiers died. (I did however let new recruits and reserves die. And I also allowed the first team to be badly injured).
By the end of the game my “first team” did have about 10 members and not just the 4-6 of a squad though.

Yeah, fucked NFS right off. The end came during a cop chase, where I took off-road, crashed into a lake, and when it re-spawned me, the police had vanished. I don't like open-world racers, Ghost was a nice halfway house in that although it was a 'world' it confined you to the actual roads. I'm not into barrelling through bushes and shit without a clue where I'm headed.
So, my racing pile as it stands now is Wreckfest, Crash Nitro, Sonic Racing, WRC something, Dirt Rally, Dirt 5, Monster Supercross 2, oh, and I picked up the expansion for Forza Horizon 4 and never touched that either.
I'm getting better at this fucking stuff off lark - that's GRID, NFS and some future racer I can't remember the name of I've binned in the last few months.

I abandoned that after one session on the Switch. Re Resident Evil 0 it was the lack of ammo and health that made it difficult for me, I did complete REmake about a year ago on PC.

The last COD game. I never played it and it started to do a 250G download so I just uninstalled it.

Psychonauts 2..
Pretty good fun and love the characters but now I'm pretty bored. Got the the camp site with the family but I've just lost interest. This is happening quite often lately. I then I just quit it and load up a from software game which is Bloodborne this time and straight away I'm enjoying my gaming time again.
I might come back to it at some point.

I guess I should be able to finish it before the end of the month though (if the Outer Wilds DLC doesn't interrupt me again).

I find its the amount of "free" games to play, gamepass gives you crap load and there is the epic store giving away games every week.

Oh I don't think it's that. The games I find myself drifting to are inevitably Destiny 2, or some old game I've already played a million times. Guess at the moment I'm in need of that nice feeling that only nostalgia or familiarity can give you.

Nioh (PC)
It was free on EGS (and is for another two days). I'm usually not into this sort of game at all, but thought I'd give it a try anyway thanks to the high praise it received. But after 2 hours I still don't feel any spark flying over and I just don't get what the appeal is. Just not my genre, it seems.

Chimera Squad has been described as the ‘Saturday morning cartoon’ version of XCOM, and I think that’s about right. The dialogue is cheesier, the tone is lighter, and it’s far more superficial an experience. I still enjoyed it though (I need to go back and finish it). I like the variety of characters, and the new design (every character taking their own turn rather than one team at a time) adds an interesting dimension. It’s not the same at all, but it’s fun.

docrob I forced myself to continue with XCom2 just for the heck of it and because I just want to see how it all ends. Could not help but decide to use some nefarious means to speed it up as soon as I learned about the 1-turn victory glitch. Don't have time for super-long games anymore. Will also try to persevere with CHiSq just hoping it is much shorter than XC2.

If you need help with XCOM 2, the YouTuber TapCat does some great instructional videos. They're not too long either.
Might be good to get you past the initial difficulty spike.

I'm really, really teetering on the edge with Horizon: Zero Dawn.
At present I've got no idea what all the fuss is about or why it's worthy of a sequel. It feels like the single most by-the-numbers open world game I've possibly ever played. Stealth that feels like a clunky Metal Gear Solid V, combat that feels like a clunky The Last of Us, icons, plants and points of interest fucking everywhere. The robots don't feel fun to fight at all so far.
I'm going to give it another few hours as I've waited especially for a PS5 patch to get started on it and I am finding the plot quite interesting. I feel as though I may either bin it off or knock it down to easy and blitz through it at present though. It's just not doing much for me.

Yeah not a million miles away from how I felt about it. Outside of the admittedly stunning graphics there was a great deal I liked about it.

I could forgive soullessness if the gameplay loop was fun but it just isn't. I give it a try after the patch to see if it improved things but if anything it made it seem worse as it just showed up how sluggish the controls were. Something about Guerrilla Games that never seem to nail how a game should feel to play for me.

Aloy was so dull and I really don't understand all the love for the visuals. The characters all look like rubber dummies and can barely manage facial expressions

The story is the best thing about that game. I was one of the lone dissenters when the game launched, as I thought it was pretty but vapid in the main. Seem to recall the EG review said the same. But the forum massif declared it the bestest game ever because giant robo dinosaurs.
I imagine the sequel will be better.

I'm hoping designing it with 60fps in mind might help with the spongey controls. I'll be buying it just to swim about in that water though.

Yeah environmentally it is quite the looker. I'm a sucker for getting to the top of some cliffs or a mountain and seeing the world spread out below and this has plenty of that, with added stompy robots. I just wish it was any fun to play, it all feels extremely average or below in every other important department.
