Hahaha wow, so I only just discovered Ashina Depths. I couldn't figure out how to do the shaman who throws the purple skulls at you for ageeees. Went back finally and did him in... Midway through fight realised you can use the fking confetti to make it piss easy!
Anyway get to the bottom of the depths and what do I find... Fucking Ape again! Hahaha. Second phase with double trouble is annoying though. Given up for now. Sort that out in week.
Think I've done this game in slightly bizarre order, but there we go!

Gotta say, I was hesitant buying Sekiro for a while. Elden Ring was my first From game and I'd heard Sekiro is nails, so was wary of jumping in after playing the Fisher Price Souls(TM).
Buttt... I am finding this easier. I was so OP in Elden Ring after 100 hours and I still got my arse kicked by Loux. Such an horrendous fight.

Now that JuniorFE and I finally platinumed Elden Ring, I'll probably continue Sekiro as it's the only From game I haven't finished (along with Demon's Souls Remake but I'm confident I can finish that one, not so sure about Sekiro); that will keep me sorted until Elden Ring DLC comes along!!! |

Depends on what gear you have but fire on the brown one and mortal draw move will end her in a few attacks. If you don't have mortal draw yet fire is great on her, stuns and wrecks posture. |

Did in the stupid double ape fight. Tricky one that.
Making my way through the misty lands and Mibu Village atm. Gotta say it's a bit of a cack area. Dull environs, annoying grunt enemies and some irritating mini-bosses. Hopefully not much longer here.

Had my first session on this after few weeks away. Finally got to the end of the rotten village place, I think. Now Ashina is crawling with shinobi :x
Tbh, I've definitely hit the point where I want it to end now. Some of the last few bosses I've done haven't been particularly fun tbh. It's also started chucking more than one enemy at me during boss fights which feels pretty mean.

If the game pulls a sneaky on you, pull that sneaky right back! At this point in the game, you have a lot of ways to turn the tables on bosses with adds.

Got the week off so re-started this yesterday. It’s actually made me feel a bit giddy inside. It’s outrageous.
I couldn’t get into it last time round, think I was distracted by other games, not far off where i got to the previous time. At Hirata estate. But yeah it’s put a big grin on my face.

It's definitely outstaying its welcome for me now tbh. Currently battling against a bloke in the Great Serpent Shrine dojo. It's not particularly hard to learn the attacks, but the fucking location is goddamn awful for a boss fight because the camera is super zoomed in and clips through wooden pillars and then you get stuck behind things and blah blah blah. Also about the third or fourth time I've fought one of these bosses. Cannnn't be arseeedd.

I killed him first time after having the rant above. Did a little pre-buff and just fucked him up. Stupid fight though.
Owl next... Almost did him first time and then four more attempts and I can't get near him.

Yeah that was a cheap trick to unnecessarily pad it out, I like going back to areas where you can kick everyone’s ass without breaking sweat. To suddenly switch them out for enemies who are all as hard as early bosses was a rare miss step in an almost perfect game It made that section boring and attritional too, as I could still beat them all, just took ages to do so |

Correct. Took me god knows how many attempts. 30? 40? No idea. Such a terrible fight. Tiny confined space with the appalling camera and then small open doors you get stuck behind without realising. Add to that a tanky, huge health boss who is 90% of the time predictable and 10% of the time just goes berserk and and unleashes a ridiculous combo that annihilates you. Recipe for absolute fury spending 10 minutes only to get suddenly killed out of nowhere. |

I'm completely sick of the game now. I was so disappointed when I discovered Fountainhead Palace was another entire fucking area. Then I discovered those stupid squid priests who enfeeble you. Omg, so dull. I've basically just been running through the areas now. CBA. It's got so repetitive.
Got to Isshin. Managed to get to 3rd phase once so far. Main thing pissing me off with him is running up the stairs and skipping the cutscenes every fucking time. Fucking game.

A friend of mine got to Isshin and stopped there after 50+ attempts.
We stil give him stick over it but I don't blame him - hardest boss in the game.

It's the four phases that make it crazy. That's a long time to make almost no mistakes. It gave me such rage on my first two play throughs. I actually love that fight now but it took many play throughs to appreciate it.

Isshin is fucking nuts. The first time I beat him I ran non stop for twenty fucking minutes, baiting out one attack and getting one hit in. It was ridiculous.
I can beat him properly now but he's still a ball-ache. The boy can actually do him better than me, and can even kill Inner Isshin, which is a step too far for me. I can't even beat Inner Genichiro.

So when he does his lightening move wait until just before he shoots it , jump, block and then press attack before you land back on the ground and it wrecks his posture. You actually want him to lightening attack once you get the timing down.. |

Yeah, lightning reversal oddly makes him easier as you have a guaranteed counter to it that does a shitload of damage, so it's just a matter of getting him to that point and then you can bait out the lightning and get those easy reversals in.

I can get to the fourth phase basically every time now. But he goes HAM with his attacks so you die pretty quickly without knowing what they are, plus I don't have a handle on the lightning counter yet. So then it's another 5-10 mins till you get to the phase again. I like the rhythm of this fight a lot but boy is it fucking stupid having it four phases long. Separate it into two bosses or something. Just wasting my time frankly.

Ok, it's done.
For some reason I lost my mojo with phase 3 for several attempts and then when I finally got to phase 4 again I did straightaway. Immortality Severed ending.

Had a solid Sekiro weekend, beating Shinobi Owl and clearing out Fountainhead Palace. Divine Dragon is a pretty good gimmick boss (better than Bed of Chaos) and the palace was a beautiful location, infested with some interesting enemies (the noble's draining vitality attack was very funny).
Still on my journey to finish this sometime soon-ish, still dreading what's coming up. Father Owl gave me a serving (several actually) of my own arse, so there's my next stumbling block. Wish me luck! |
