The Devotchkas recently released some stuff from a collection they are calling "From the Vault". Two songs so far, one of which is a slightly different version of "Wicked Heart" from Live Fast, Die Young.

Email from Bandcamp got my hopes up and then dashed them again just as suddenly. "New release from Red Scare Industries" Ooh fuck, yeah go on then. "By Broadway Calls"
For fuck sake. Like I'm going to enjoy listening to people who describe their style as "Oregonian lumber-punk"

The Chisel's new album released today.
On first listen it's enjoyable, but very much in the same vein as Retaliation. Which isn't a bad thing by any means, but it hasn't quite got it's teeth into me like that album, yet anyway.
I'm oddly reminded of Slade at times. A turbocharged Slade. Think it's the stompy drum rythyms and shouted vocals. Though Punk does have a debt to Slade tbh.

I just found out Screaming Females broke up back at Christmas time. Gutted. What a band they were.

This is quite the varied song by Scowl.
Starts off as snarling hardcore before becoming something that wouldn't sound out of place on a Hole album, and then at 1:10 a Green Day riff kicks in.

Sum 41 Heaven x Hell is a hell of a way to go out on. Put out arguably their best stuff since All Killer and then call it quits.

Annoyed that I didn’t jump on the 20th anniversary edition of Smash at the time with the wooden box. Feel like I’ve got the essential Offspring collection on vinyl now though with Smash, Ixnay, Americana and Conspiracy.

New from some local punks up here. One of them is in the Grafteoke band if you’ve ever seen their late night live karaoke show at various uk punk fests over the last few years

Being out of touch I've only just stumbled across this band I'm very much liking their sound.

Second album from The Shivvies coming 1st July, if you like your bands that are unashamedly just The Ramones: The Next Generation.
Also, here is some Handheld:
I would say there are five new albums coming out on Friday, but one of them is Frank Turner, so there are four new albums out on Friday.

Frogger was mentioned in the Game Remakes thread, so here we are, I can't not.

Social Distortion updated some of their tracks on YouTube a while back to have animated covers, which is rather nice.

Half convinced that's Kristen Bell on the cover, but probably not.

I picked up the double album of Hello Rockview and Losing Streak when that came out all that time ago, listened to those relentlessly.
Was thinking the other day that there’s not many bands that can compete with the quality that LTJ put out back to back at that time, these were followed by Borders and Bounderies and Anthem. Been more hit and miss since then but man, what a run.

I agree that Losing Streak, Hello Rockview, and Borders and Boundaries was a great run but I didn't really like Anthem at the time and it's pretty much the album where I stopped following them.
Maybe I should give it another listen, but I recall (maybe incorrectly) a shift away from using horns into a more punk rock sound, which made it stand out less.
Again I might be wrong, it's been 20 years!

Anthem definitely leans more into the punk/pop-punk side of things. It’s a very slick sounding album, they had major label money thrown at them by all accounts. Think some/most of it was done at Morning View.

Been listening to that new Green Day album. I've seen pretty lukewarm responses so hadn't bothered before, but I'm actually liking it.
It's not going to be a classic and it's not exactly original but yeah, it's enjoyable enough in a comfy way, and honestly I can't be arsed to listen to challenging stuff all the time.
Better than their last few albums at least.
