So you liked the RTX 4080 12GB? Well, I wouldn't think anybody did. But just in case, I sure hope you didn't, because it's just been cancelled.
Guess they will rebrand it as 4070 (as it should have always been called) and then try again, possibly at a lower price.

It is the most embarassing thing I've seen in the last few years, indeed.

Just came to post this. I thought they would just blindly plough but I guess since literally everybody has said the same thing they can't justify it

Intel's i9 13900K has been tested by Gamers Nexus and it can have a 300w power drawe under load. #Thirsty

If I was building right now I'd probably be a bit more tempted by the i5 13600K (and this is coming from someone who went from a 8700K to a 9900K)... Had to do a bit of a double take looking at the specs. Feels like only yesterday 4 cores and no hyperthreading was all you got with an i5.
Windows 10 22H2 has just dropped btw for anybody that cares. I'm damned if I'm moving a daily driver over to 11 any time soon (it's frustrating enough on my spare laptop)

Yeah I won't be moving to 11 anytime soon. Not least I can't be arsed to but I don't like it and I have win10 running how I like it.
Glad they didn't stick to win11 being a requirement for direct storage, well for all the games that support it 0_o because that's another chance to sidestep it

My FE is on the way apparently, how have you been getting on crash, psu holding on? Nice! They're not messing about with the packaging. Yeah it's working like a champ, I've checked it after the PSU cable melting stories but not a mark on it. Won't complain if they replace this adapter with something with more of a right angle though :-) Bloody thing is a beast. I downloaded and launched that plague game out just to see what the visual fuss was about and it sure is a looker. Native (no dlss at all) ultra everything and over 100fps. Gonna wait till the rtx patch is out and then play it Leadbetter was right though, graphics settings are inconsequential now. Just whack it all on ultra and play.

I'll assume you guys are up to date on the investigations into what was causing the melting cables issue, but if not:

Yeah, I'd be getting a refund until this is sorted if I were you. New shiny really isn't worth having a fire risk in your home...

Thanks. I've handled this adapter with kid gloves since jayz2cunts made a video about it. I've also been following the story ever since it broke and just watched the GN video where they had different results to Igor's. I'm not going to get chance to go on it for at least at week or so but I reckon Nvidia are probably going to issue new cables.

Starting to look like an AiB partner supply chain issue, every 150V cable GN has seen so far came from Zotac or Gigabyte.

I thought all the partners got them from nvidia?
I'm not jumping to conclusions yet after all the 3080 capacitor stuff that did the rounds. Let them investigate and then I'll resolve what I need to (if anything)
As a side note, I power limited mine to 70% cos lower temps (worked a treat) and it's pretty much silent. Lost about 2% performance doing it

AMDs new RDNA card event tonight at 8pm
Rumoured to be 7900XTX and XT variants with their new chiplet design and 24 and 20 gigglebytes of vram accordingly.
I'll be checking it out just to see what their offerings are.

I'll be honest, I'm more excited about what it'll mean for mobile processors with the chiplet design and the extra efficiency. It does kind of look like AMD did just force nVidia to reduce the pricing on their remaining 3090 stocks though.

They took some cheeky digs at nvidia about keeping it as simple as unplugging your older card and sticking in the new one, although combustible adapter aside, how hard was it to take out my old card and put in the new one ... ?!
I think if the benchmarks show this as rivalling the 4080 (which is where i think this is aimed) then nvidia is in a tough spot with its pricing for it although its also going up against the 3090 ti which is close and actually getting more affordable. That 4080 12gb sure is looking even more ridiculous right about now.
Their "8k" gaming is a bit bullshit since they clarified it as 8k horizontal res but only 4k vertical (ie Samsungs new Ultrawide) but thats missing half the pixels surely ? Does that mean I have a 4k ultrawide ?
