While the publisher was betting on the deal and grew too fast, it was the studio killed the studio. They have been putting out meh to bad games since AoM and then attacked the long term saints row fans and talked shit about the old games (not a great plan)
I noticed in internet comments, people are saying "its not as bad people are MAKING out" what they mean is they think people are lying. Hate that, if you like it then thats great.

...we just wanted a remake of SR2, keep all content, add a bit more lick of paint, 60fps and we would have been happy as Pigs in shite. SR2 is the best GTA game ever.

4 is also 10 years old. Its not a massive surprise to see a studio who produced two expensive duds on the bounce get canned, regardless of their storied history.

What horrible things did they say to the fans? any constructive criticism was dismissed in a very unprofessional way by the devs and social media manager (who is very angry pissed off person) calling everyone toxic and has creepy fetish for Kevin from the game. Also really shat on anyone that liked the old gamers and wanted a remake or remaster of 2
Also just read there was layoffs back then after AoM, would not be suprised if there was bad feeling for gamers

I found the Gat thing very confusing in SR3. He's talked about like he's the main person but he's not the boss, you are? Was he even in it? I can't remember now

He was a fan favorite from the first two, but yeah, the cult-like following the Saints had for him was weird.

IIRC Gat dies/is killed at he start of SR3. As for SR2 remake, there was a fan project going on but the main person has passed away sadly. He was the guy who made nice mods for SR2/3 (PC).
Eh I mean not really a remake just improved graphics, removed glitches and so on.

SR 1 + 2 are the stand outs, albeit very buggy. 3 was fun-ish but getting a bit too silly, 4, Gat, Agents and remake were all pretty poor to piss poor..

Sr2 is amazing (but buggy and runs like shit on 360)
A good reboot could of worked for the series, just not the awful one the studio did. it seems the devs were offended by the character from past games!

I mean they weren't going to just abandon the IP, it's just that they thought the studio was shit
Also they needed to recoup all their money after spending waaaay too much and betting the farm on Saudi money. I just read that the class act that Embracer Group are fired everyone on the last day of the month so they wouldn't even have to pay health insurance.
