Your link doesn't exist, you'll have to find one that hasn't been shunned around these parts.

It actually doesn't look bad in the the little gameplay clicks. It's just clearly nowhere even close to being finished.

It really is a mobile game with pimped up graphics isn't it?

It is a bizarre mindset they're going with here. Like releasing an early access FPS without the ability to shoot.

Can only assume they want to get people playing it for free before FIFA comes out. But with limited modes etc, I can't see it being successful. Very odd.

Just seems like they want it to quietly die so they don't have to make any more. Can gather a few quid from this while it's still going and not put any more work in after a point.

Is looking more and more disappointing - does that leave any other alternative football games if you're not interested in Fifa?

It's odd but I think you're right, based on what Konami has now become. Perhaps it's just a data driven decision, given the way a lot of people want to play these sorts of games now. Maybe sports games are just next in line for the battle pass treatment.

joinufl.com/Teased at Gamsecom but sounds more eSports than FIFA/PES.

It feels like a really long time since either EA or Konami did anything particularly innovative (I'm not sure the pricing model shake-up this year counts), so it will be interesting to see what ideas UFL has. Their initial pitch does sound a bit like a mobile game again, though.
I think the two-team monopoly of the last couple of generations has been terrible for the genre. There were so many competitors back in the PS1 days that the devs were always looking for new ideas to differentiate themselves. This is Football with deliberate fouls and handballs, Libero Grande trying out the First-Person view. Now it seems the best we can hope for are new modes bolted on, usually at the expense of other areas of the game *cough* FIFA Career Mode *cough*.
If Konami's strategy doesn't work and eFootball quietly dies off, god knows what it will be like in the future.

Been playing Fifa 22, got a code a few weeks back, and I be got to say….I’m quite enjoying it. I only play career mode, and I really like the feel of it. Games have a nice flow to them, the pace of games seems bang on (albeit I always play on slow speed). Passing and shooting feel better, the ball feels solid - I’m impressed so far. Defending is tough, but I guess it should be sometimes, especially with a new release. I’ll caveat all that with a few things though - * they could fuck it up royally between now and release, particularly if the FUT players mown too much * now, as ever, the managerial side of career mode has had no meaningful attention paid to it * the whole midfielders not defending/tracking back debacle seems improved, but there’s still some stupidness every game. * occasionally the opposition engage in lightening fast ping pong passing in your area, can get a bit silly
But all in all I’m impressed. Haven’t bought a fifa on release for three iterations but I think will this time

Didn't know another free to play football game, UFL, was being made as well: www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1yNPY3a3qIWho knows how it will look and play in motion, I can't imagine this will have any licenses. But give modders or people the ability to create the team kits etc and it will generate a cult following. Interesting at least to see another football game that isn't PES or FIFA.

This. SNES or N64 versions, not arsed which. Hell, even the GC and PS2 versions were more fun than the last decade of FIFA / PES.

More details emerging today. Comes out on 30th Sept with only 9 licensed clubs at launch. It only seems like exhibition mode (online and offline) is available. MyClub to be added after launch along with new their battle pass equivalent along with animations and skill moves. Killer for me is that edit mode isn't even available at launch and the Master League DLC won't even release until next year.
Sounds like they're launching a demo and adding to it over time when really this should come out at launch full guns blazing otherwise people are gonna bounce off this real quick and retain players other than the diehards.

Hahaha. Animations and skill moves as an added update... it's all so incredibly, incredibly stupid.

Exactly. Here's what's gonna happen.
Liverpool fan: Can I play as Liverpool when this comes out? No? OK. But I can on FIFA? I'll just play that then.
Same with Man City fans. Chelsea. Spurs. Everton. I could go on. Even funnier when you know its coming out on the same week as FIFA

If FIFA actually goes free to play, then yeah this franchise is dead.

The only hope they've got is that it's free and kids will stop badgering their parents to pay actual money for FIFA. But that's if it was a relatively complete game, which thus absolutely isn't!

I find it still holds up and plays a good game of football. I heard there's another footy game called Goals in the works, but there doesn't seem to be any information about it. It's hard to see anything taking away from FIFA's market at this point honestly. Especially since EA have exclusive licenses

I thought it looked pretty good. Much better than I expected. Could be decent once it's finished in 2026.
