I'm not sure how anyone can be surprised, it's Konami. They stopped giving a fuck a long time ago, do the bare minimum, land some whales paying for some loot boxes and job done for them. It's kinda depressing when I think of the fun I used to have with the series.

Even EG's subscriber service has more features than the video I just watched.
It looks horrendous. And I got my hopes up it would be pretty good when the good impressions were coming out last week.

My mate who is PES super fan number 1 is having a hard time with this. Apparently there's a big update in November that's going to fix all this, including the shit graphics.

I've just downloaded enough of it to have the quick match they offer while the rest is downloading. Argentina Vs Portugal.
At first it played like an ever so slightly sharper version of that 'New Football Game' thing that went up on the store a couple of months ago. When I went into the settings I noticed there was an option for Match Speed, which I flicked up to +2 and it instantly made it ten times better to play. Not going to help online games unfortunately though as I'm guessing it will just be locked at default.
But yeah, it 100% feels like it's held back to accommodate mobile players. There's a god awful delay on absolutely everything you want to do so good luck scoring any nice goals or moving it around quickly. It's as unsatisfying as it gets. There are also some dreadful animations and collisions. I was clean through with Messi who got caught with the slightest touch from a defender and got dragged back about 10 yards while the ball rolled away. He also got stuck in the side netting for about 5 in-game minutes and probably would have stayed there as long as the ball remained in play.
It's terrible.

They haven't changed the commentary for about 5 years either.
Spoony seems to fucking hate it, and he's not usually a hater.
Tram smash. Why aren't there other devs making football games? There needs to be more competition in the market than FIFA and PES. It's the biggest sport in the world.

There were folk on EG saying the online test demo they released felt good. There'll be folk saying this feels good, they must be gaslit by Konami.
This is without doubt the worst football game I've played since I can't remember when. It's diabolical.
All these changes and the 2 year gap are the result of Konami wanting to monetise this game to high heaven.
PES is finished now and I am finished with football games now. It will not come back from this.

I remember Three Lions being half decent. The shooting was good from what I remember.

I remember the days of TIF, Actua and shite like Michael Owens World League Soccer.
The reason they disappeared is fifa and the various leagues learned they'd make more money selling EA an exclusive licence than they did selling non-exclusive licences to every dev and his dog.
Of the non FIFA games only PES was good enough and funded enough to have a few licences. Even then you have Trad Bricks vs West London Blues until someone made an options file.
