Unlikely given what's been going on pandemic-wise, but has anyone travelled to France recently? Are they actually checking insurance, finances to support yourself etc at the border? I know what the advice says but can't see actual reports of it happening. Not an issue, as we've got everything sorted. Just an unnecessary pain. So we finalized our move to France just prior to the end of the transition period. We've been fortunate, as we both now work freelance and pay our taxes here, so had no issue getting our carte de sejours and carte vitales etc. and getting integrated into the French system. My sister-in-law and her husband (and their toddler) are coming over to visit next week. As my sister-in-law is English (husband is Italian and the lad has dual-nationality), and as they are going to be staying with us as opposed to a holiday rental, we had to go through the whole process of liaising with our Mairie/mayor, paying for and filling in the appropriate third-country forms for non-EU nationals, and sending all the relevant documentation over to England so that they would have it upon their arrival in France. I guess we'll find out on Sunday if any of this sort of documentation is being actively checked, given the focus on vaccination/test status checks etc., but we were advised that the fines can be considerable if you do get pulled up on it, with even a potential (though I would hope very unlikely) risk of being turned back at the border. Sorry that's probably not much help, nor what you wanted to hear, but I'd definitely advise looking into it carefully if you are planning on coming over.

We're staying with my fiancée's family (she's French) and debated whether we should get her dad to go to the mairie for the attestation but decided against it, as we can show the ability to support ourselves for the time out there if required. Likewise, we'll find out on Sunday I guess...

I suspect if your fiancée is French then it'll be perfectly fine.

Between Narbonne and Carcassonne. Gorgeous place, but my pallid Scottish skin is struggling with the 35* plus temps

Nando’s has run out of chicken. Ireland branches are fine, apparently. Surely rioting is just around the corner.

Will be interesting to see how the right wing mainstream media present this poultry shortage. Only The Guardian, independent and Sky have picked it up so far...
The BBC will of course just not report on it to maintain the illusion of being impartial But surely the mail, sun and express will offer their take soon to appease the thick as mince pro brexit dip shits?

Impressive avoidance of any mention whatsoever of trade issues in the article. Maybe all the lorry drivers, those chaps that spend ALL of their working day socialising with others, like getting right up in the face of all the people in their cab, have just gotten ill or come into contact with someone that got ill. Yeah that must be it

They won't be able to hide behind that excuse forever though. Sooner or later, as things get worse (and they *will* get worse, as the next layer of added bureaucracy for import/export to the EU comes into effect in October, I believe) they're going to run out of things to blame that don't included the "B" word.
We've drifted into this weird period of denialism where so much energy is being expended trying convince people they haven't been sold a con; literally nothing they were promised will come true.

Heh. Turns out crossing the border was very easy. They couldn't have cared less once they realised I was with a French person.
Still, I have a stamp in my passport now which is a little sad.

Was shocked to hear the BBC suggest that Brexit could be to blame on the news at lunchtime. I thought everything was being blamed on the 'pingdemic'?

Just come back from the supermarket, definitely seems to be some supply chain issues going on. Obviously it's all down to Covid and nothing else.
