The new update has arrived. Alien settlements that you can run and develop. 250 new base building parts. Nebulae! And more. Might jump back in for this one and spruce up my base. Also, last time I played I finally got hold of a void egg but have yet to hatch it.

Crazy good value for money, this. So many massive updates all for free, and it's an absolute belter in VR.

I'm going to effectively have to start from scratch I think to get my head around it. Last time I played they'd only just introduced base building!

I'm going to start again too, just wish there was a way to skip the long drawn-out intro/tutorial missions. Have to plough through to the bit where you get warp fuel before you can start going your own way. Desperately needs an "advanced start" feature.

I really want an up to date physical release, just so I don't have to take my PS4 online.
I had to sign in to PSN for the first time so I could download a patch because The Evil Within was such a mess and my PS4 was loaded up with crap like Spotify that I did't want or ask for and I can't get rid of it.
I should have known, it was the same with the PS3 it looks like I'm going to have that horrible Singstar splash screen on there forever.

Great game for just mucking about for hours. Definitely start again if you haven't played in a few years, a bit more of a story to the start of the game now.

Nice one, sounds like that's the best way to go. I might just do non-vr to start with, just to get to grips with it again for a bit.

Amazingly immersive, could spend hours just pottering around and adding to my base. Used to run pretty well on moderate settings on my old PC (4790k and 2060), haven't tried it out yet on my new one (11900k and 3080). Recent update added DLSS which also boosts VR performance, so good chance of turning the eye candy up.

I haven't got that kind of high spec as a 3080, but ryzen 7 + 2070 super should do the trick for what I need

Yeah, I reinstalled it when I got my Series S, and the whole flying planet-base-thing seemed to be new. I had totally forgotten how to extract resources, and I'm pretty sure my base from 2018 did not have shit-loads of carnivorous mutant cats… :/

I wish it would let me use a gamepad while in VR on PC.

I'm amazed there are still people using consoles offline to be honest. Good for you I guess?

It didn't. I logged back in to find my lovely desert base was now in a volcanic hellscape.

I gave the new expansion a go at it seemed like it would be a good addition. Unfortunately with most new expansions from Hello games there are host of bugs. Unable to debrief my frigates, I get the loot but doesn't complete the debrief. Got stuck on a screen after completing a production factory mission. The list goes on, I'll try it in another week to see if they fix the bugs.

Is an update that fixed lots of stuff (including the debrief thing) on PC, should be on consoles soon/ now.

Tried to give it a go with gamepad and it fucking sucked. Felt like it is very much designed with key+mouse in mind. May give it another try with key+mouse.

Every update I go "oooh I'm going to get back into this" so I reinstall it, fire it up, play an hour...then never play it again. I wish I could be more engrossed in it.

Ooooh! I played this when it first came out for a while, but got bored (there wasn't much to do). Started it again on PS5 last week, really enjoying it. Haven't tried VR yet.

Logged in today for the first time in a while. Surprised to find myself on a space station unlike any I remembered seeing before, because it had been taken over by a crew of outlaws and was a bit worse for wear.
Did a bit of exploration, a planet came up on the scanner as Type: REDACTED, which is something else I'd never seen before, went down to investigate, and the moment I was through the atmosphere I found myself on what I can only describe as a Death World. They'd applied some weird visual filter to the surface of this world, so all colours but black and red were entirely absent.
Next system over, I got the shock of my life.
I found a paradise world, with no Sentinels.
I have been looking for one of those ever since I started playing, and I was beginning to think I'd never see one. Green grass, tropical blue water, no extreme weather, abundant Star Bulbs growing all over the place, butterfly-like birds in the sky.

Nice finds Mike. I'm still yet to find an Earth-like planet (with green grass and blue sea/sky) in about 200 hours of playtime.

Todays new Interceptor update adds a whole bunch of stuff, including a new ship class, corrupted sentinels, and capitol ship battles:

I always leave this for a while then jump back in and realise how much I love it. I think it helps when I have an aim but I am just enjoying improving my freighter and trekkin' across the galaxy. Perfect chill game for me.
I am now going to add 'Get an Interceptor' to my list of stuff.

Has there ever been a dev that has supported their game so much with so many continuous free updates? Hello Games really should be applauded here. The amount of work they are putting into this game post launch is quite phenomenal. Yes, we all know the state it was released in blah blah blah, but look at it now, all without the consumer needing to spend one extra penny.

Yeah, it's the first game in a very long time I've paid more than 20 bucks for, because they support it so well. Don't know if I'm ever gonna play it, though.

How do they even make money? I don't understand. It's not like they're got a lot of games on their roster.

How do they even make money? I don't understand. It's not like they're got a lot of games on their roster. Digital delivery presumably. Virtually 0 cost to selling (beyond the rake to whoever it is selling on) so keep it fresh and in the news, you're making money on a game you (mainly) already made years ago. The 'incredible turnaround' story no doubt helps further. There are new gamers to buy it all the time. Or it's a front. Great job anyway.
