That's a bit different to people betting on the number of shootings like it's a sporting event though isnt it.

The shooter drove for hours with the intention of shooting people? Awfully familiar to the Rittenhouse case. If one side defends him to the point of making him out as a hero, then something like this was bound to happen.

Guess it's too early to discuss gun control again, the timer gets reset so often.

Something tells me that the Pro Life party will be definitely all over this and be fighting to make sure that no more precious lives are wasted...oh wait.

Imagine placing more weight on the right to own a firearm than on the right to body autonomy. Incredible stuff.

Come on people, now is not the time to talk about it.
The only way to beat a bad child with a gun is a good child with a gun.
This is clearly done with actors.

Thank fuck tomorrow is a half day and last day for the year for my daughter.
Sadly, she’s nine now and this is going to affect her.
One of the worst feelings of my life was talking to her about active school shooters, three years ago when she was going in to first grade. Horrible.

14 dead children.
America just don’t care about dead kids. Actual kids, that is

At least she'll be warmed by the knowledge that people get to feel all big and powerful because they get carry round an assault rifle while they buy some eggs and milk from the supermarket.

I’ve already seen a claim that this is false flag to change the narrative on abortion. Ugh. The fuck is wrong with people?

Nothing will get done. Platitudes, etc.
This is just what America is. It won't ever change. It's awful but in my 3+ decades, I haven't seen any real attempt to control guns or do anything. I remember Dunblane and the reaction after that. If America didn't do it after the Washington Sniper, Columbine, Sandy Hook, etc, it won't happen.

Yeah, this is the kind of stuff I see a "civil war" in America starting over. I say that in speech marks because what I mean would be something more like a mass migration. People who want guns move to X state and people who don't move to Y state.
Could lead to a fractured but harmonious country, whereby the safer states will most likely be more prosperous and educated, while the others will become poorer and crime ridden.

At this point I personally wouldn't fault a single American with the capability, to just give up, abandon ship and move them and their family to a different country where this shit isn't a permanent fear. Can't imagine being a father where this is something you have to worry about every day.

One of the worst feelings of my life was talking to her about active school shooters, three years ago when she was going in to first grade. Horrible. Agreed. I have a nine year old (almost) adopted son and this feels like the hardest thing to explain. Either random acts of violence or deliberate acts of violence in schools. Keep saying though, guns make it so easy to kill a lot in a short amount of time. I think there was a case recently in Germany of someone with a knife, managed to kill one, injure some others before being subdued. If the guy had a gun, definitely multiple murders.

It's the fact that civilians can buy AR-15's and such is what gets me. If your 2nd amendment rights means you need to build up a Call of Duty training garage amount of guns to defend yourself, then you better be fighting fucking terminators.

I'm kinda depressed with myself that I saw this headline on the bbc news website, went 'huh. america i guess' and kept scrolling.
It's gotten to the stage where even such horrible acts have become so commonplace that they don't generate the outrage they once would have. Which is terrible, when I actually think about it.

Almost any other country in the world would react to something like this by huge changes in the law, massive reactions etc. The USA will do nothing except thoughts and prayers, slaughter of children is normalised, what a sick, sick, fucking shithole of a country.

They would have to ban sales and then have a huge amnesty programme. All completely doable, but writing it this I see how completely out of sight that prospect is "criminals won't give up their guns, why would I" etc etc
This is more than about guns though isn't it; healthcare, education, culture, media. It's all just perfectly screwed enough to create this mess.
14 children murdered while at school is just so unbearable. I don't know what to say, as has been said here already, nothing will change.

Sandy Hook was the litmus test, if anything was going to spark change it was that. It didn't.
