Anyone watching the Solheim Cup?
I've only being following the text and the first 2 days have been fantastic, knife-edge games flipping in the last two holes. Into the singles now and this happened

I watched a little bit of it. It’s ok but the golf seems a bit poor compared to the women’s Majors. Bogey is often enough to win the hole, which is unusual in matchplay

Yeah, was a great recovery and putt. Especially as an identical one was missed just before.

When talking about pros and cons of WFH, people often fail to mention one of the biggest benefits: streams

Nice to see Poulter get a bit of a doing early on - 5 down after 5 holes
Need to start banging his chest and doing his crazy eyes stare

Long way to go still but it's not been a good day. Very few Europeans have played their best golf which is disappointing.
Maybe the absence of European fans is having an impact. There's almost total silence when they play a decent shot which is pretty weird.
McIlroy has been very poor.

Agree it's a bit of a shame how completely one sided the crowd is (for obvious covid reasons) and given the general demeanor of the US fans it certainly doesn't help... but a disappointing start regardless.

McIlroy’s best golf is a long long time ago. He’s not been relevant for years
Westwood and Poulter are both yesterday’s men too, they are so far past their best they should be on the Seniors Tour
I did think when it started that if USA played ok, like 6 out of 10, they’d win quite easily
There’s only really Hovland and Rahm out of the Euros that you’re comfortable with taking on this challenge

Maybe yeah. The US almost always have the best team on paper, but psychology often evens it out in practice. We've seen Europeans raise their game in the unique pressure of matchplay so often over the years.
Still time for it to take effect here, but the problem is that the US now have a huge comfort margin that reduces the pressure on them considerably. We need a couple of points early tomorrow.

Ah nuts. Was hoping we'd have taken a half in that other match. Only Rahm, Sergio and Hovland seemed to play half decently. Needs a big step up in the first session or it could be embarrassing

Just seen the morning pairings. Glad he dropped Rory. Seems a bit mad to drop Fleetwood. He faded a bit yesterday but his irons were sweet and creating chances.

Maybe we need a Poulter-esque defiant 'fuck you I'm not losing' performance from somewhere that changes the narrative.
Garcia and Rahm were the only ones who delivered anything convincing so far but stylistically they are both more about quiet competence than attitude.
Even then, without the support around the ground in not sure it's even possible to build momentum that way. There is no roar from one green or chanting to inspire the Europeans at all thanks to covid.
The only hope is that the partisan crowd starts to get nervous if the gap closes and that disrupts the Americans and gets in their heads. Feels unlikely after yesterday.

Yeah, the crowd is a massive drawback. Even yesterday, there were a few holes where things swung on the back of those sorts of cheers reverberating around the course.
I don't mind a partisan crowd, but I absolutely loathe them cheering wayward shots. Really noticed it yesterday.

Fleetwood looked a bit upset to me, he’s usually very popular with the Americans so found the snidey cheers for bad shots and missed putts tough to take
