Feels bad to single out one player but Rory really has been utter toilet. Persisting with him again was baffling. Poulter hasn't been great either but I don't think anyone could win a match alongside McIlroy on this 'form'.

Stay classy American golf fans. Their fans really are the worst thing in golf. Poulter always seemed a brave pick as he's not had anything near the form to justify it. Even then, McIlroy has unfortunately brought his day 1 major golf and not his day 3 when he gets himself into the top 10 with a strong round. |

That Lowry putt was an incredible moment in a shocking performance from Europe thus far. He was possibly the “controversial” pick so I’m delighted he knocked it in
Poulter and McIlroy have been the major issue, Poulter is just well past his best but McIlroy is a completely useless Ryder Cup player for someone with all the talent in the world

In terms of 'clutch' golf I guess it's not surprising that the team with a lot of top 20 world golfers have outperformed the team with some people with mixed form.

I agree entirely. It's not like we'd be winning if Rory had delivered his absolute best golf, but if he'd just been close to his best we'd not be totally out of it by Saturday night. I feel for him because Harrington has backed him heavily, even after it was obvious there was something wrong. Losing all three anchor points he contested really has torpedoed our chances.

Yep, agreed. We went with the old reliable, despite them clearly not being in form. I can understand why but other than Sergio (big up for Sergio btw), they just haven't performed. Needs a massive Sunday to stop it being even embarrassing.

I went to Wentworth a couple of weeks back and watched Poulter miss the cut playing some abysmal golf, whereas Rose looked in fine fettle, finishing 6th, shooting -16 with a final round 65. I know hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I would 100% take Rose to any Ryder cup if he's in any kind of form. We all knew Harrington would pick his buddy Lowry (who I'm chuffed to bits for, he's played great), but I was gutted he went Poulter over Rose.
Let's all be honest though, now McIlroy is shit, Rahm is our only genuine contender with these yanks. We could get humiliated today I fear.

jimnastics it’s not just hindsight though, anyone that knows a bit about golf knows Rose should be there. I said it on Twitter before the tournament, as did thousands of others Problem is leaving Poulter out would have caused a massive story and would’ve made Harrington’s job supremely difficult. As crap as Poulter is as a golfer, he’s a brilliant match player in most people’s eyes
