Soooo... I just started Dark Souls 1 for the first time. I am Pyromancer so I threw some bombs at the initial boss and killed it lol. Anyway, I got some keys and then a big fucking bird picked me up off a cliff and now I'm in Lordran. But I hadn't explored everywhere in Undead Asylum.
Should I reload? Or is there not much to worry about? Can I go back later?

There isn't really anything good you can miss when you leave there for the first time. Just a tip, though, you should probably adopt more of a breadth first strategy of exploring, instead of depth first, because you can easily push forward into regions that are way too dangerous for you.
Of course, you will eventually notice that when you die. But depending on which bonfire you activated last, you might end up quite a trek away from your safe zone. Maybe sometimes it's better not to activate a bonfire.
It's much less of a problem if you didn't choose master key at the start, which you probably didn't, if you killed the asylum demon with black firebombs.

Soooo... After a good 4 or 5 hours I've killed the Taurus Demon and I'm wondering when the fuck am I going to be able to cast these fireballs. Why don't I have a wand for this yet? I'm a goddamn Pyromancer.
Well... Turns out that yeaaa, by finding the giant bird earlier than I should have in the Asylum, I missed the goddamn item which allows me to throw fireballs. Nnnrgghh. So looks like I need to start again ffs. Stupid janky fucking game.

It involves a bit of a rescue effort and some back tracking to to the last Homely House, but that will still be beyter than a restart |

If you started as a Pyromancer you should already have the item you need to cast fireballs... it's not a wand, it's a "pyromancy flame" and it's in your inventory from the beginning, it's not a pickup. |

Seems you can indeed miss it, at least in prepare to die edition, when you kill the demon during its first appearance and then don't go up the stairs to the top or just don't pick it up when you pass there.

Woke up silly early this morning so started over. I missed a _tiny_ area in the Asylum on my first run lol. And I even opened the locked door, saw the white icon flame on a body and thought nahhhhh, I'll go check out the other way first. Think I got scared of cliff face and thought a dragon would take me out or something. In... the tutorial area Anyway, fireball is amazing lol. Will mean I don't have to buy loads of bombs. Made killing the skeletons at the start very manageable, albeit I got to Catacombs for first time and noped out of there for now. |

My good knight Sir Smashalot didn't do a single parry/riposte for the entire game, I've always gone more for 100% blocking shields and/or dodge rolls.

I think I cheesed the one at the end of a tunnel, the others were a combination of luck and dodge-rolling that I’d learned via the method of many, many deaths.
