I just use the helmet thing you can get from Solaire dying because I find him annoying and don't care if he dies. I also hate Siegmeyer because his armour is stupid and he takes forever to say anything. Skip, skip, skip

Yeah, I've heard a lot of people say that it wanes after amor londo.
I don't get that. Totg is practically one of the most terrifying places I've visited in a game. And dukes archive is fantasised off its tits.

Do try to explain why The Gutter or the Old Iron Keep is better though I freaking love The Gutter (and Blight Town). The vertical shanty town thing is just so cool conceptually and they're fun (and slightly confusing) places to search. I also really enjoy lighting all the torches - it's satisying and is a good indicator of where you've been. The Rotton is a cool boss as well
Iron Keep is probably my least favourite area in DS2. Good thing about DS2 though is that you don't have to leave those areas until last because of the way it's designed
The heartbeats from the statues is really unnerving as well! It's one of my favourite areas actually (Shrine of Amana is my favourite)
I could talk about Dark Souls 2 all day!
edit: Never had a problem with New Londo (you can get the Estoc from there right at the start!) but I always do it before Anor Londo anyway so I can talk to the purple worm thing - I always go for that ending fuck the flame and Gwyn

The boy had me on Dark Souls for a quick sesion last night. We both did Artorias in NG+ then pissed about in Oolacile Township for a bit. Nice to see it's still as busy as ever. Fair amount of Dragon Remnants, Gravelording and good old fashioned invaders. Hell of a spooky fucking place to have a fight club mind you. Oolacile has yet to be beaten for sheer oppressive creepyness.
Also, I can't fight for shit. I burned through about 20 humanity just trying to get a kill. Nothing's changed then.

It's a shame that remastered and prepare to die aren't network compatible, though.

Me and the boy continued our hijinx in Oolacile last night for an hour and there was still a hell of a lot of PvP action. I've never actually experienced gravelording there before, so colour me in surprised and spank my bottom did I not know that there was an ADDITIONAL fucking prisoner right before the jail. A big red one looking like someone had skewered a meatball with a chopstick was hiding behind the corner. So, after fending off numerous red phantom enemies and invaders, we made it there, me running forward gallantly to fight the prisoner only to get utterly mullered by red bastard running me down from behind.

Happy 10th Birthday to the game that turbocharged it all.
Let's all start a new build. I'm going for the Iaito, never played a katana build

Rolled a new character after watching all this Elden Ring content.
Made a Dex build and suicide run for the great scythe in The Catacombs which wasn’t too bad once I remembered where the bastard thing was. Kicked Lautrec off the cliff and did all the bosses fine but tried to farm for a Silver Knight shield in AL. Two hours and about six levels later, I finally got one (after dropping 8 SK spears & swords) Going to try Laurel & Hardy later…

lotoNice one. Me and my boy have been messing about in dark souls 3 all morning. Again, because of Elden Ring. We cannot bloody wait.

Does the PS4 version play well on PS5? Might be re-roll time now I’ve finished Demon’s
Can you still summon / invade?

@retro - plays lovely on PS5. It’s showing it’s age and it’s no DeS visually, but plays really well. There’s plenty of people playing it - hearing the Bells ring every few seconds when nearby, loads of bloodstains and ghosts running past. You love to see it.
@quaddy - it didn’t drop for me, but you’ve given me an idea for another character…

It's annoying, but if you have a mouse with thumb buttons, you can bind your strong attacks to those and then you're fine. Only jumping remains a pain in the ass but that's also true for the controller.

Alright, just restarted SOTFS. Last time in DS2 360 I got the Illusory Ring of the Exalted. This time I'm on the PC version and I want to see if I can get through a Covenant of Champions run. Why do I do this to myself?

There's a thread for Dark Souls 2. DS2 talk will go over the heads of this uncultured lot

Gah, I really don't have the patience for this anymore. I almost ragequit at No-man's Wharf. Suppose I won't last much longer.
I blame SOTFS too, frankly. Enemy placement is almost universally worse. The only improved area is the path to Vestaldt, everywhere else actually has more and stronger enemies (and they didn't even fix the Amana Shrine).
