Kula Shaker - Albert Hall Manchester
A great gig. The new stuff is good and who doesn't like Govinda, Tattva, Hush, Sound of Drums, Hey Dude, Grateful when your dead etc. Gutted they didn't play Mystical Machine gun though...

Pearl Jam Stereophonics and a few others in Hyde Park. The weather was great, sunny, blue skies and enough breeze to keep you from getting too warm. Fast entrance, didn't see any trouble anywhere, probably as it wss mostly an older crowd. Stereophonics played a great set, they have some crowd pleasers to sing along to, a good warm up. Pearl Jam played a pretty eclectic set but I really enjoyed it. Far more so than years ago in Marseille where they played a lot from 10. A good old man concert! Time to sit, beers and ciggies in the sun and some top dad dancing! We went on the Friday and it was excellent. The added bonus being seeing Pixies as well, and Cat Power. We had a woman who was completely pissed out her head trying to push us off the barrier. I’ve never done a barrier before, as I suspected this would happen, but my girlfriend wanted to do it. The woman hit our heads a few times, then the final straw was pushing my back and saying come on in front row!! .. I turned around and said back off (ohh you’re hard)… then a few songs later bumped me again, so I gave her a massive shove and again a back off. I’ve been to plenty of gigs and this was the first time I got proper pissed off with someone. Obviously I’ve been shoved before, but with the heat and her being drunk. Yeah we went to the Friday one, PJ were awesome and what a fucking beautiful evening! I was glad Eddie stopped to point out the dusk sky as it was stunning. We stood at the back of the 10c section at the front where it started to thin out, I'm too old to get involved these days... still a great view and people were very chilled around us. Highlight for me was them breaking out Breath just 3rd song of the night, I love that song.

I've never been but every year I consider it and never commit - they have had some cracking bands on with past events that I have never heard of until afterwards.
/ stoopid new page, that was in response to the psychfest question.

Arley Hall - 2000 people in a field, one stage, 4 tribute acts, middle aged crowd with camping chairs and cool boxes. Weather was absolutely stunning. Acts, so so. John Collins - who? Rogue Minogue - enough said. Some Elton John act, didn't catch the name so let's go beastmaster with Reginald Shite then Queen 2 - really, really good and topped off with fireworks as crowd sung Radio Ga Ga.
7/10

Amyl and the Sniffers? Sounds like Amyl and the Sniffers. You've heard of them then. Shite. Horses for courses. I've seen them several times, and they have always put on a great show. Amy is an explosion of energy and the fellas simply rock. It's nothing new but it isn't trying to be. They are having fun and it's infectious. Seen them play both tiny and large venues, and at a couple of festivals and they have always gone down really well. But those big shows with lot's of support acts are funny - there's often one band that the audience doesn't react well too as they don't fit the same mould as the others. Liam Gallagher had the Fat White Family support him at his recent Knebworth show and looking at twitter, they confused the fuck out of the bucket hat brigade.

Local (well Cornish at least) band 50 Year Storm a week or two ago at the local football club. They were pretty decent actually and it was a great night all round.

A little bummed to miss out on State of Love and Trust, which I saw they played the next night. Ah well can't have it all. That Singles soundtrack is fantastic in hindsight.. First time I felt a little like... this is dad rock now isn't it...

Seeing PJ 10 or so years ago was a real highlight for me. Absolutely loved them from the minute I heard Ten. So wasn't disappointed that it featured heavily in their set list!

I just read up on the Ticketmaster / Springsteen “dynamic pricing” £600 for seats at the back bullshit
Fuck me what a scam. I can only assume that the only reason it isn’t illegal is because no one in the government was corrupt or greedy enough to have considered it a possibility so hadn’t got around to legislating against it yet

Saw Prodigy the other day, still one of the best in the game. Only downside was that it was too short and whilst they played pretty much everything, a lot of the songs seemed shorter than usual.
Incredible show though all the same!

I used to love Kula Shaker in the 90s, it's great to hear they still do a good gig. Didn't even know they were still going, I'll have a listen to their newer stuff

My missus was loosely involved in their new music video (Once and future King). It was definitely a "wow, they're still going" moment for me.

Booked tickets for Rival Schools at Electric Ballroom next July (playing the entirety of United by Fate), very much looking forward to this! Got some tickets to that too. Glad they're playing all of United by Fate, wasn't as keen on the follow up, though it did grow on me. Seen them a couple of times before, I think one of those was at Electric Ballroom, but my drink addled memory of gigs from that time is worryingly hazy.

Going to have to give up my Foo fighters tickets for the weekend, tried to ebay them but they got taken down. It's weird as loads of the listings stay up but mine was taken down, I'm guessing someone reported it because I refused to take their offer for them.

Some great lineups then, it's so weird now with lots of acts I wouldn't normally associate with the festival, Ed Sheeran made a guest appearance and DIDN'T get bottled. What the HELL is going on?
