It's on my list of things to go to but I fear that a) despite my advancing years, I would try and pretend I was in my 20s again with disastrous consequences, and b) it would be chav central... My thoughts too, they do something similar in Manchester with mainly 80s/90s indie tribute bands at bowlers in Manchester. It also has bez, Clint boon, Rowetta and all the other usual circuit dwellers dj’ing etc. I went once and it was 50% old men like me trying to recapture their youth and 50% coked up young chavs looking for a fight. Twas awful

I would say it's predominantly 50-somethings like me enjoying themselves. No trouble at all. Definitely not chav central, there a broad mix I think. The local Parkrun gets a massive boost in numbers for that weekend. 250 runners on Saturday. Usually around 125-175.

Also, it's tremendous value for money. Around £250 for a phenomenal number of bands (only a couple are tribute acts) and your accommodation.

Excellent. I may advance it up my list for next year. Sadly I won't make it next year as it clashes with a work conference. I tend to only know about 2 songs by each band but it's always great fun. You can keep going to 2am if you really want to. I was keen to see Altern8, but not at 01.40!!!

We've done manchester a few times and nearly got a stockport one. Can't remember why it didn't go ahead now. I'll see what's available!

One of those Butlins weekends would make for a great forum meet-up.

One of those Butlins weekends would make for a great forum meet-up. Are you old and still like music from the past? Do you like shouting at clouds? Miss the days of the Speccy/C64/PS2/SEGA? Then call us on FG Away on 0800 50 50 50. Book your place at the Butlins meet up NOW!

In a mad twist of fate, November 2018 also had a gig watching the Prodigy in Liverpool, and also Slayer at the MEN Arena.

They just released their Peel Sessions from the early 90s.

Saw Midge Ure at the London Palladium last night. He was tremendous on the whole with most of his solo bangers , the Ultravox hits all present and correct and a fab cover of The Boys are Back in Town too. His voice is still incredible and he had good support from the India Electric Company. There was a bit of a flat set list sectionwhen he did one too many maudlin tracks, but a great night enjoyed by a crowd of balding men and menopausal women who could punch the air with the best of them. Tremendous

Karate at the Brudenell next month on my 40th and I've just bought tickets for pageninentynine and Totorro next year in Leeds too. More than happy with those, especially pageninentynine who I thought would never see on this side of the Atlantic.

Got to play it once too, an amazing place.
