Went to see the Manic Street Preachers at Piece Hall, Halifax, on Friday. Absolutely loved it, it was so great to be part of a live audience, singing as if our lives depended on it. Going to see them again on the 26th in Newcastle, and October 2nd in Manchester.
Got a tribute act doing the Bat out of Hell album in November, Wolf Alice in January and Mudhoney sometime in 2022. I booked the tickets for them earlier this year, then they rescheduled eight hours after I bought them.
Anyone else prepared to brave hot, sweaty crowds?

Sleaford Mods in nov.
Foals (2 yrs late- thanks covid!) in lahndahn next year.
That's it thus far.
Not sure how I'll cope in nov tbh. Getting more used to having more folk around now though!

Think my next one is the offspring in November, I have so many tickets for various gigs that I can't remember when they are as they have all been rescheduled (some multiple times). Need to put them in my calendar.

I'm off to The Wide Eyed festival in Leicester this weekend. A number of good bands all in the O2 Academy.
Really looking forward to it after 2 outdoors festivals a week ago.

Erm....
Boss Keloid in Nov Ocean Colour Scene in Dec Therapy? in March/April Jawbox in June
I'm old and like what I like so I don't go to see as many bands as I used to. Plus half of the bands I'm into are American and old and don't tour as much as they used to.

All I currently have booked in is Glastonbury 2020 and Bon Iver.
I feel like I've lost a desire to go to gigs a bit in recent years. I went to so many in my teens and twenties, I feel I've seen all my favourite artists so many times now that it's hard to justify the cost. I get why, they make zero money from music and it's now the only income source, but I used to go see Eels pretty much every year, and it would be somewhere from £12-18. They're still playing those same venues but it's now £40-50 a ticket.
Doesn't help that the two main venues for big touring acts in Leeds (FD Arena and O2) are both shite.

I'm going to see Jimmy Carr in November. It's been rescheduled a few times (I've just checked and I bought the tickets in October 2018) but hopefully now nobody cares about covid anymore we'll finally get to go.

I saw Royal Blood at Victorious Festival in Portsmouth at the end of August, probably the best live gig I've ever seen. They absolutely smashed the fuck out of it.

Salad (24th Oct - Lexington), Goodbye Mr Mackenzie (5th Feb - The Garage) and Killing Joke (9th April - Apollo). Great to get back into going to gigs - standing there, pint in hand waiting for the band to come on doesn't get old (only I do).

I kinda wish I had gone but I'm not digging their new stuff.... how did it come across live? I saw them in Brighton in 2014 and that was great, but that was in the Dome which is pretty small and intimate, they're playing the Brighton Centre soon which is rubbish for live music.... but I'm tempted again

Booked my tickets for Mudhoney in Brighton next year Got Pearl Jam in Hyde Park as well. Hoping The Melvins announce a UK tour to top off my mini grunge-fest....

Honestly they were amazing! The sound was bang on, super crunchy. They played Typhoons first, and the encore was the first song off the first album which rounded off the set really nicely.

Also I left my last band after about 7 years because I was exhausted from all the gigging. Unfortunately my lack of enthusiasm for playing them seemed to have a knock on effect to my enthusiasm for watching them.

Off to see Bicep in Manchester, sometime in December, can't remember when.
And off to see myself play in the local pub when we finally book a bloody gig there.

Goodbye Mr Mackenzie (5th Feb - The Garage) Wait, what!? I honestly thought they'd broken up years and years ago, some reformed thing? I only had one 12", only because Shirley Manson was with them for a bit.

Oh yea they have been around without Shirley for years under the guise of The Filthy Tongues (three of the key members are part of the setup including Martin). The gig is the Good Deeds and Dirty Rags tour which is them playing that album. I saw them a couple of times over the past few years, playing mainly Filthy Tongues stuff - their two albums are great - but also Mackenzies stuff. Martin's voices has deepend and is more gravelly. Nice to hear you are aware of them.

Went to Wide Awake a couple of weeks ago and saw Squid, PVA, A Certain Ratio, a bit of Black Midi, Dry Cleaning, Crack Cloud and Yard Act. Last weekend it was Meatraffle and this week saw Goat Girl.
So good to be back in venues actually watching live music. Did a couple of socially distanced sit down shows over the last year and frankly I just didn't get on with them.
Loads lined up but fully expecting some to get canceled.
Got Scott Lavene and Squid next week. Only Billy Nomates in October so far, but November has (hopefully) Jehnny Beth and Bobby Gillespie, Osees, Amyl and the Sniffers and IF we are allowed to the travel I may go to New York to see Protomartyr with Kelley Deal - it's been a shitty 18 months and that would be a nice present to myself.
Next year already got Yard Act, Sorry and Primal Scream (doing Screamadelica) and assuming it goes ahead Glastonbury.

Next year is Dropkick Murphys and then Social Distortion. Saw The Specials last week. Slam Dunk was the start of the week.

I’ve got Every Time I Die + The Bronx in February and Anthrax + Municipal Waste next autumn so far. Still unsure I how I feel about going to gigs with big crowds if I’m honest.

Also booked tickets for both of these Also Lamb of God in December - originally supposed to be supported by Power Trip And Gojira in March I have zero apprehension at this point, still wearing a mask where it's asked/suggested to, I find it quite shocking how many people aren't wearing them in supermarkets and on public transport for example.

Went to Neighbourhood Weekender the other week: Shed Seven, Jake Bugg, The Coral, Sam Fender, James etc.. Was really good, had a great time even when some guy just got his knob out in the crowd and let rip.
Lovely.

Saw Steve Hackett at the Edinburgh Playhouse on Saturday. Ticketmaster deciding last minute to go from using their app at the doors to printed tickets wasn't very helpful. Anyway he was doing a classic Genesis setlist with a few of his solo songs to open and it was amazing!
Have tickets for Ozzy (which has been rescheduled twice now) next year but given his health it looks like that might not happen then Alice Cooper in May.

Ash @ The Roundhouse on Saturday
Originally due to take place late March 2020 so one of the first gigs to get cancelled. Great set as always and a surprise appearance from Charlotte for the encore was an unexpected bonus.

Thinking of getting tickets to see Helmet in Leeds next month. Other than that I've got (rescheduled) tickets for GZA in February. Haven't been to a gig since Feb 2020.
