Yeah as long as you talked to him he should have a summon sign inside the arena.

I spoke to him and exhausted his dialogue while he was in pain on the floor but his sign isn't there. Guess I'll have to check a wiki.
It's my biggest bugbear with FROMs entire oeuvre - the character questlines and conditions in their games are obtuse as fuck.
Edit - well, maybe not in the more 'linear' games like Sekiro but certainly in ER.

The downside of course being, that he doesn't shut up. That's a feature, not a bug! And if you disagree I will riddle with holes your rotten hide... WITH A HAIL OF HARPOONS!!!

They supposedly made it more noticeable in a patch IIRC. Also, make sure you have his Furled Finger. If you exhausted his dialogue at Jagged Peak you should have it, but just in case.

No, I don't think he's met him there. I think he met him at the other area first.

Didn't see him at Jagged Peak - after looking at the wiki it turns out skipping the two Drake's fighting each other means he won't show up further on.
Bah - dragon enemies are my least favourite.

Messmer was a great boss fight too!
No idea where to go next but there's still a ton of the map to explore.

Beating Messmer was, for me, the start of wandering around the map like a dickhead, trying to work out how to get to the places I could see in the distance.

I really think this DLC blows. It's so boring.
I got over the initial hump of getting my arse kicked once I'd found enough of the Fragments and the other thing. But it's back to endlessly riding around the map wandering wtf I go to get to a Map beacon miles away. They are really hard to find compared to the main game. Playing offline, I don't get the hints which say hit this invisible wall, etc.
The amount of reused enemies is terrible. There _are_ some really beautifully designed environs but they're chock full of the usual shite. If I have to go through another fucking catacombs and smash those stone cat things I'm gunna go bonkers.
I almost did Bayle second time. Did me with some ridiculous attack. Think I'll probably do him in, do Messmer and just mainline whatever comes after that.
I loved the original, aside from Giants area and Snowfield really. This reminds me of a continuation of those areas. You can have too much of a Good Thing imo.
Beginning to think Sekiro, which I played after ER, is just absolutely god-tier. A beautifully focussed, challenging, carefully crafted slice of gaming.

Bayle... utterly random fight depending on how much it decides to spam absolutely insane unblockable AoE attacks. That fire breath can absolutely get in the bin.

I'm not going to do a play-by-play, but suffice to say I disagree with a large part of your comment Tomo. Especially about the reused enemies, having basically rinsed the whole thing about the only truly reused enemies I saw were the imps in the catacombs (and even then the cannonheads are new afaik), a specific, skippable miniboss in the middle of Bumfuck, Nowhere, and the adds a specific boss spawns which make sense lore-wise. The vast majority of everything else was either completely new or at least had new moves and abilities grafted onto familiar appearances... No arguments about Sekiro being a brilliant game though (although subjectively not as much "for me", as it were)

(also I found Bayle surprisingly easy and I don't think I was over-Scadutreed... Although admittedly being a ranged build I was better able to react to his attacks -a lot of his AoEs are avoidable-... And I summoned Igon because how could you not)

Off the top of my head, reused enemies are: rolly sheep, eagles, imps, bears, bigger bears multiplied, bats, rats, weird shrimp things with lances, the rolly chubby bald lads, Tree Sentinel x 2, the slappy hands, the bigger slappy hands, lobsters, crabs, giant poison cloud flower things, the boss in the crater with the spikey tail, loads of dragons, the torture chambers on wheels. You get the idea.

You get the idea. 1) At least half of those either have new moves, forms and behaviours as I mentioned, or are less "enemies" and more "wildlife" (I doubt anyone considered the sheep or small flowers actual enemies even in the base game when they barely even aggro unless you rush into them, for instance, and I'm only excluding the big flowers because one was used as a boss in the base game) 2) There's a plethora of new enemies that outnumber any reused ones 3) I can think of very few DLC (certainly not any FromSoft ones) that used nothing but entirely new enemies in them, with no carryovers or palette swaps from their base games whatsoever Not that it matters much, not everyone likes the same things, it just feels like a very nitpicky complaint on the whole

Er, I’ve just killed the Godskin Noble faster than I ever thought possible, maybe 30 seconds tops. Didn’t need my sleep pots or even the summons. Just bled that fucker to death. I’ve had 7, 8 attempts with previous characters for that twat and they had shields for the annoying roll.

Playing the DLC and I'm really getting tired of these bosses with like 10 delayed attack animations with AOE effects, moves activated right as you drink from the flask. It's killer when your build relies on using a colossal weapon and how slow it can be, can only get one hit in before the boss is off doing it's thing again. I hope From's next game like this pulls away from this approach to boss design but I doubt it.
EDIT
Oh look at that, I summon Mimic Tear and Messmer is down in one attempt. Didn't even get to see all of the second phase. Such a weird game.

Considering the reception that it got I believe this is the future of the series.

For future games, it's recommended that you become a streamer so you can play games all day and get good

Finished the DLC last night.
It was pretty good all in all and basically more of the same. Quite enjoyed the bosses (except a certain avatar) but wish there was more focus on the legacy dungeons. Shadow Keep was great but the other areas were nowhere near as memorable as Stormveil Castle, Leyndell etc.
Think I've had my fill of the open-world Souls formula now and hope they go back to something different like Sekiro or Bloodborne for their next game.

Only just, at 120 hours in and at level 100, went back to Sellia Crystal tunnel. Yes, the one where I got traumatised by prawns who drilled a thousand tiny holes into my supple frame. Had to say it felt good smacking them right into Suck-My-Dick-o’Clock.
Did that fucking High Page in the Cuckoo Church right after. His fancy crossbow was nothing compared to, um… levels.

One of the pleasures of the games- going back for revenge. Although, I do still manage to get mobbed by starter dogs and fully murderised too somehow. the bleed build has reached Leyndell, mixing daggers and claws, but preferring the Reduvia and a catalyst in the other hand which swaps for the spiked spear I can chuck via an ash of war for a bit of range. Can still fuck up (see above) but never played an easier build.
