Personally would genuinely choose Balatro. Absolutely breathed new life into a well worn genre.

Let's be honest. It's a shit list this year. Anything would look pale in comparison to Baldurs Gate 3 last year. But they're still very very good games (except Black Myth). It does however leave stuff out, mainly from the indies category that should also be in contention like UFO 50. We all have our personal favs too.
Not like any of this matters, the only reason people pay attention is for the trailers

Should also be mentioned it's something that you can't even access until you put anywhere between 40-100 hrs into the base game before you can access it. It’s actually even worse than that. Its perfectly possible to have bought the DLC but completely missed the optional region that triggers it entirely

Let's be honest. It's a shit list this year. I dunno, Metaphor, FF7R (even as a remake), and Balatro and Astro Bot as surprise smash hits are all pretty strong contenders IMO. Sure, Wukong is a bit more niche and Erdtree sticks out because DLC, and maybe last year's was a stronger list overall, but I'd hardly call this lineup shit...
